Introdução: O câncer de esôfago (CE) é o sexto mais frequente entre homens e o décimo quinto entre mulheres, de acordo com o Instituto Nacional do Câncer (INCA). Além disso, esse tipo de neoplasia inclui dois subgrupos histológicos, principalmente: o Carcinoma de Células Escamosas de Esôfago e o Adenocarcinoma de Esôfago, a prevalência dessas patologias, variam de acordo com a geografia. Objetivo: Frente ao exposto, o objetivo do presente estudo é identificar na literatura a efetividade das ações da enfermagem no subsídio ao paciente com CE e de que forma os cuidados por parte da equipe de enfermagem podem contribuir para um prognóstico positivo. Metodologia: Estudo de revisão integrativa, os dados foram coletados através das bases de dados eletrônicas: SCIELO e PUBMED. Os critérios de inclusão levaram em conta as publicações científicas em português e inglês no período dos últimos 12 anos que estivessem relacionados com o tema proposto. Já os critérios adotados para exclusão foram: trabalhos como teses, dissertações e outras revisões. Resultados e Discussões: O Enfermeiro especialista, tem papel tanto dentro do hospital como na comunidade, provendo informações e suporte ao paciente no retorno a sua rotina, entretanto, percebeu-se a necessidade de os profissionais realizarem orientações que se adaptem às necessidades de cada paciente sem definir o grau de importância das informações. Considerações Finais: Diante dos achados, é possível compreender que o profissional enfermeiro desempenha papel ímpar no cuidado ao paciente com câncer de esôfago. Essa assistência é voltada, principalmente, para o controle de sintomas, já que em muitos casos o paciente encontra-se em cuidados paliativos quando diagnosticados com CE além de fornecer informação e orientação necessária ao binômio paciente-família.
