Une stratégie d'approche amène le lecteur d'abord à une compréhension globale du texte à partir de l'auteur, du titre et des sous-titres. Les mots étrangers et les noms propres, les chiffres ainsi que les mots à haute fréquence permettent un premier niveau de compréhension. Le deuxième palier de lecture vise l'analyse de l'argumentation par la reconnaissance des éléments linguistiques correspondants. Ce n'est qu'après ces deux phases de décryptage qu'une lecture détaillée est proposée après un repérage de l'ensemble des structures de la proposition. Selon les besoins du lecteur, l'approche du texte peut être interrompue à chaque palier de compréhension. Naturellement, la langue de travail reste le français.
