ResumoO centro histórico de Ouro Preto -Minas Gerais, é reconhecido como patrimônio da humanidade, sendo procurado por visitantes, em especial por causa do turismo cultural. Recentemente vem se consolidando a atividade do Geoturismo, que em cidades é conhecido como Geoturismo Urbano. Assim, a presente pesquisa buscou conhecer se há um potencial geoturista urbano no município. A metodologia considerou na etapa de escritório revisão de literatura e elaboração de três instrumentos de coleta de dados (formulários estruturados qualitativos); e na etapa de campo entrevista remota (Google Forms) a amostra de 125 atores locais, sendo: 31 pesquisadores (de Patrimônio Geológico e de Turismo), 92 estudantes de cursos superiores (Engenharia Geológica, Geografia e Turismo) e 2 guias de turismo de Ouro Preto. Como resultado observou-se que: há potenciais geoturistas urbanos para o destino; têm elevado nível e renda mensal; motivação mineralógica, arquitetônica, geomorfológica, unidades de conservação, arqueológica e compras (artesanato); e propostas de roteiros geoturísticos com temáticas de geomorfologia, mineralogia, história da mineração, petrografia e arqueológico. Os pesquisadores podem ser considerados "geoturistas dedicados", os guias de turismo "geoturistas recreacionais" e os estudantes um meio-termo entre ambos. Espera-se que esta demanda potencial integre o conhecimento do mercado turístico ouro-pretano, servindo para a formatação e comercialização de roteiros por agências receptivas e acompanhamento por guias de turismo de Ouro Preto e, sobremaneira, fortalecendo o reconhecimento do geoturismo como segmento turístico.
Os roteiros turísticos tradicionais têm um apelo comercial que nem sempre aprofundam o estudo dos destinos visitados. Em Ouro Preto (MG) os roteiros enfatizam os segmentos de turismo cultural e ecoturismo, respectivamente no centro histórico e em unidades de conservação. Assim, esta pesquisa buscou desenvolver um roteiro geoturístico urbano no centro histórico de Ouro Preto. A metodologia de caráter exploratório e estudo de caso, se compôs em duas etapas: de escritório (revisão bibliográfica e digital de temas afins; elaboração de ficha estruturada qualiquantitativa de inventário e valoração de Lugares de Interesse de Geoturismo Urbano - LIGU); e de campo: visita virtual (Google Street View) e in situ ao centro histórico de Ouro Preto e inventário de LIGU. Os resultados foram: levantamento de seis LIGU (predominantemente de interesse científico mineralógico e geomorfológico, valores da geodiversidade cultural e turístico) e formatação de roteiro geoturístico urbano no centro histórico via city-tour a pé por seis pontos de parada para interpretação com cerca de 2 km de percurso e quatro horas de duração. Conclui-se que a cidade histórica tem potencial para o geoturismo urbano, mas carece de pesquisas de perfil do geoturista e de inventário mais embasado dos geossítios. Espera-se que o roteiro possa ser incluído nas políticas públicas, comercializado por agências de viagens, e capacitação de guias de turismo.
