We believe that staged operation to treat coronary artery disease and malignancy can be performed safely. The use of off-pump technique to revascularize the myocardium can be performed without any complications.
Mesenteric panniculitis is a chronic inflammatory process involving the adipose tissue of the mesentery. The etiology is unknown, and it is rare in children. We report a 5 year old girl who presented with abdominal symptoms and was misdiagnosed as appendicular mass. The correct diagnosis was established after surgical resection.
The combination of constrictive pericarditis and coronary artery disease is rarely reported in medical literature. Constrictive pericarditis occurs after cardiac operations in 0.2 -0.3 % of cases. Normal coronary vessels can be involved in the inflammatory process of constrictive pericarditis by scar tissue. The association between tuberculosis and coronary artery disease is rare. Obliteration of coronary vessels may occur in rare cases of tuberculous aortitis. We present a case of coronary artery disease associated with tuberculous constrictive pericarditis. Combined treatment by total pericardiectomy and coronary artery bypass surgery was successful. (Ind J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg, 2007; 23: 263-266)
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
