Forest and land fires are a source of air pollution in Pulang Pisau District. This incident has caused various impacts on women's lives, one of which is a decrease in the level of health. The research objective was to determine the impact of forest and land fires on women's health and the role of women in dealing with forest and land fires. This research was conducted in Pulang Pisau District, Central Kalimantan Province. Sources of data used are primary and secondary data collection. Data analysis in this research was conducted descriptively. Based on the results of the study, it shows an increase in the number of ispa cases followed by the intensity level of the number of forest and land fire incidents. One of the beneficiaries of the forest and land fire incidents are women, children and the elderly. The role and involvement of women so far is only to help prepare foodstuffs and participate in extinguishing fires when forest and land fires occur, but there is still a lack of women's involvement in making prevention and socialization efforts related to the impact of forest and land fires.
The impacts of climate change in the last decade are tropical storms, rising sea levels, and forest fires. These impacts damage human health, natural resources, and gender equality. This study aimed to identify the effects of climate change in the community, cultural development, and gender roles in addressing climate change in Central Kalimantan. This study used a cross-sectional design with questionnaires. Data collection was carried out using interview and observation techniques with a purposive sampling method. Interviews were conducted with 30 respondents in each district. The results of the study showed that the community has long felt climate change in Central Kalimantan. Still, they do not yet understand that changes in rainfall and temperature patterns reduce environmental conditions and forests’ function to support daily life. The openness of access to natural resources for women gives the responsibility of maintaining families during climate change, for example, utilizing plants to be used as weaving material in managing wet and dry forest ecosystems that increase deforestation rates. In the future, stakeholders, including regional government, will issue policies that protect women’s rights and interests to ensure that women get the same access and benefits related to information and decision-making, especially in natural resources management.
The peatlands have the potential to support food security efforts. However, there is have constraints on soil fertility, especially the P nutrients availability. The biotechnology approach, the application of ameliorant (biochar-compost carrier medium (biocom)) enriched with phosphate solubilizing fungi (PSF) and coal fly ash (CFA), was expected to increase the P-availability in peat soils. The research aimed to study the application of biocom enriched with PSF and CFA to increase soil P-availability and plant P-uptake. The study was conducted using peat soil media with the formulation of CFA and biocom enriched with PSF and CFA as treatments. The treatment effect was observed through soil P available and plant P uptake of maize. The results showed PSF application was inconsistent in improving P available in peat soils in Kalimantan. In Central Kalimantan, Biocom + PSF was able to increase P available in peat soils by up to 406.18% (A. oryzae-Tb7) and 353.44% (N. fischeri-Tm8). However, in South Kalimantan P available in peat soil was only 8.04% (A. oryzae-Tb7) and 12.86% (N. fischeri-Tm8). The CFA+ (biocom+PSF) formulation increased P available in Central Kalimantan peat soils, but it was different from South Kalimantan peat soils. The application of biocom+PSF and CFA has not been able to increase the P uptake of maize plant in peatlands of South Kalimantan.
