Spatial economic analysis, including research on regional development and competitiveness, has long been a high priority area in the social sciences, both domestically and globally. Several dominant international models relate changes in regional competitiveness to the volume of investment, physical capital and improvements in the income situation of citizens. This suggests that the promotion and implementation of investment has the greatest impact on regional development, as it generates technological innovation and innovation in order to raise the skills of the available labour force, employ human resources at higher wages and thus raise living standards. On the basis of these findings, our study examines the level of development of the domestic LAU1 districts on the basis of their complex (social, economic and infrastructural) level of development, their income situation and their economic competitiveness.
Egészséges életterünk megteremtése érdekében a fenntartható településgazdálkodás céljaiban is szereplő elővigyázatosság elvét alkalmazva a negatív ökológiai hatások minimálisra történő csökkentése és a környezeti feltételek javítása szükségszerű.
In today’s economic analyses, welfare factors, which include the soft factors of competitiveness, play an increasingly important role. The reduction of social and economic inequalities and the fight against poverty are key factors in the economic strategies of countries, as social development is one of the foundations for the expansion of these factors. This makes the topic of territorial, economic and social inequality an important and topical one, which has been examined from many different perspectives over the past decades. Nevertheless, a uniformly accepted methodology for analysis across all countries has not yet been developed in the European Union. The main hypothesis of our study is that the growth of economic performance in countries is most favourable where social factors provide optimal conditions for development. Taking the conceptual framework of territorial inequality and unequal development as a starting point, our research has carried out a specific income inequality analysis between 2015 and 2021 of the countries that joined the European Union after 2004. In our analysis, we have included in our inequality model the “persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion”, the “income quintile share ratio (S80/S20) for gross total disposable income” and the specially constructed values of the “GINI index”. Our research has shown that social competitiveness factors can play a much more complex role than expected in shaping a country’s national strategy, and that the differentiating effects of these “soft factors” can be crucial in reducing territorial disparities.
A földrajzi tér minden egyes pontja vagy téregysége különböző, egyedi tulajdonságokkal és adottságokkal rendelkezik. A napjainkban is fennálló területi különbségek viszonyrendszeréből kiindulva a népességdinamikai vizsgálatot hosszú idősoros elemzésekkel hajtottuk végre, a 2005-től 2020-ig terjedő intervallumban a Gödöllői járás 15 településére vetítve. A kutatás során olyan – járáson belüli – térbeli különbségekről kapunk képet, amelyek a következő időszakban nagymértékben fogják befolyásolni a térség fejlődését, továbbá nagy hatással lesznek a Budapesti agglomerációban, illetve annak közelében elhelyezkedő települések társadalmára is egyaránt.
Following the economic crisis of 2008, most developed countries, including the European Union member states, have experienced an economic paradigm shift. The rethinking of economic production has led to a shift towards knowledge-intensive, innovative and high-tech industries. As a result, today’s technological innovations are having a markedly more mature and powerful impact on changes in social relations, the labour market and its strategic development. As it has been observed in the technological innovations of recent decades, the industrial sector (manufacturing, energy, IT, automotive) has played a prominent role. At the macroeconomic level, almost all of the strategically comprehensive innovations have been closely linked to the development of this sector. All these visible macroeconomic links have led us to focus our attention on the strengthening of industrial production and its regional disparities, and to explore the regional differentiation in development resulting from FDI. We have chosen the period 2008-2020 as the interval for our analysis, in which we have examined the correlation between the value of industrial production per capita and its changes, as well as the spatial distribution of the value of industrial production. In our study, we sought to answer the question of how spatial inequalities in production change as the value of industrial production increases, and, in a complex model, how the level and unequal spatial distribution of foreign direct investment affect the development of a given economic space in Hungary.
