ChemInform Abstract and in humid environment is studied by XRD, IR spectroscopy and chemical analysis. The degradation products are indentified to be BaCO3, CuO, Y2(CO3)3•3 H2O and O2. A decomposition mechanism is proposed that involves the reduction of Cu3+ to Cu2+ followed by hydroxylation of Ba2+ and Y3+ and subsequent formation of carbonates via reaction with ambient CO2.
