Clover detector has been used as a Compton polarimeter to measure the linear polarization of -rays produced in heavy ion fusion reaction. The polarization sensitivity of the clover detector has been measured over -ray energies ranging from 386 to 1368 keV. The E1 multipolarity of the 1117 keV transition in Rh has been established using this polarimeter. This has resulted in the assignment of negative parity to the band head at 3710 keV in Rh.

The level structure of 140 60 Nd 80 has been established up to spin 48 by in-beam γ -ray spectroscopy by use of the 96 Zr( 48 Ca, 4n) reaction. High-fold γ -ray coincidences were measured with the EUROBALL spectrometer. Twelve new rotational bands have been discovered at high spins. They are interpreted as being formed in a deep triaxial minimum at ε 2 ≈ 0.25 and γ ≈ 35 • . Possible configurations are assigned to the observed bands on the basis of configuration-dependent cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky calculations.

K x-ray satellite spectra of Al in the element and its oxide Al2 O3 , generated by photon excitation, have been studied with a plane crystal spectrometer. The energies and relative intensities of the K x-ray satellite and K low-energy satellite have been measured and compared with theoretical estimates. The results in the element and its oxide are compared to look for chemical effects.
