This paper is devoted to the investigation and application of thermo-photo-elasticity phenomenon on the example of fused quartz, in which anisotropy of dielectric properties under a temperature gradient appears. In consideration of fact that the most of all physical effects, which have directed character, lead to a symmetry reduction of the crystal lattice, the phenomenon of photoelasticity is manifested in a variety of effects. The most common of them and therefore the most studied is the photo-elastic effect (Brewster effect), whose point is the induced uniaxial deformation of the linear birefringence in crystals and composite materials. This effect was used in this paper. It is presented possibilities and perspectives of modulation polarization spectroscopy in micro-, nanoelectronics and optics as well.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
