Moskau: 1979.By means of a statistical investigation of the strength of a large number of specimens of a-keratine fibre a spectrum of discrete strength levels with 17 discrete values is detected. These strength levels correspond t o 17 discrete defect length of macro-, micro-and submicrocracks, which were calculated by formulas of fracture mechanics. It is shown, that the results of fracture mechanics correlate well with the data of x-ray diffraction. From the results it could be concluded that the effect of sample size and of external actions on the fibre consists in the redistribution of the strength levels in the fibre, whereby the average stress of rupture is changed.
Polymeric? 18 (1987) Nr. 7 454 TSOI: Structure and discrete strength spectrum of a-keratine fibres rechnet wurden.
