Results from the radiation damage studies of KH,CI :Co2+ and NH,CI :NiZ + crystals are presented.On X-irradiation a t room temperature the NH,C1:Co2+ crystals are found to absorb a t 270, 345, 585, 900, and 1000 nm. These absorption bands are attributed to the charge transfer transitions between radiation induced hydrazine-like defect, N,HZ, and ligands H,O or NH, which are made available in the crystal along with the divalent impurity. If not all the absorption bands but similar absorption is found on irradiation in Ni2+ doped NH,CI crystals also. ESR studies of X-rayed Ni2+ doped NH,CI crystals reveal the formation of both, Ni+ and Ni"'. Spin-Hamiltonian parameters for these centers are given. Es werden die Ergebnisse von Strahlungsdamageuntersuchungen von NH,CI :Co2+ und NH,CI:Ni2+ Kristallen mitgeteilt. Nach Rontgenbestrahlung bei Zimmertemperatur absorbieren NH,C1 :Co2+-Kristalle bei 270, 345, 585, 900 und 1000 nm. Diese Absorptionsbanden werden Ladungstransferubergangen zwischen einem strahlungsinduzierten hydrazinahnlichen Defekt, N2H, und H,O-oder NH,-Liganden zugeordnet, die zusammen mit der divalenten Storstelle im Kristall gebildet werden. Eine ahnliche Absorption, wenn auch niclit alle Absorptionsbanden, werden nach Bestrahlung in Xi2+ dotierten NH,CI-Kristallen ebenfalls gefunden. ESR-Untersuchungen an rontgenbestrahlten Nil+-dotierten NH,CI-Kristallen zeigen die Bildung sow~ohl von Ni' als auch Xi3+. Die Spin-Hamiltonoperstoren fur diese Zentren w-erden angegeben.
