Technical solutions of problems related to increasing the safety of operation of hazardous equipment are discussed.Operation of complex plants containing hundreds and thousands of units of machinery and industrial equipment is impossible without providing information on its technical state to company management. Maintenance and updating of the equipment and revamping of sections, shops, and plants require making well -founded decisions which must be based on reliable information on the causes of insufficient output, frequent repairs, stoppages, shutdowns, and emergency situations. The reliability of the information is essentially determined by its objectivity, i.e., independence from the will, desires, and deliberations of the concrete people responsible for operating, repairing, and updating the equipment and revamping the plant. To identify dangerous foci of generation of defects and prevent them from developing in a timely manner, a new concept of nondestructive methods of control has been intensively developed in recent years: monitoring the state of the equipment in real time.
