The electronic absorption spectrum of pyrene in boric acid glass before and after irradiation with uv light has been studied in the region 200–1400 nm. The spectrum of the irradiated film of pyrene has been attributed to its monopositive ion. The results are in good agreement with those of the other workers. The effect of temperature during and after irradiation of the ionic species is also discussed and it has been found that the photo-oxidation of pyrene in the boric acid glass is a reversible process.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
