A new approach to MBC protocol analysis is presented which differs from previous techniques in that the channel is not assumed to be binary symmetric and instead the channel errors are modelled by the Fritchman model. In addition, the large body of existing literature on protocol analysis applicable to continuous channels can generally be applied with few modifications. The protocols are compared on the basis of the expected number of bits transferred per burst. The results of applying this analysis approach to an ARQ, a Type-I hybrid and a Type41 hybrid protocol are also presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
