For purging of metal with inert gases in steel teeming ladles frombelow, fused periclasebase porous tuyeres are normally used: single-layer ones, with a spinel binder (PGF) and doublelayer ones with an inner gas-permeable layer and an outer less permeable one (PDF). The dimensions of the tuyeres are height 300 mm, diameter across the working surface 140 mm, across the nonworking 170 mm~ and weight 14 kg.For the purpose of replacement of fused periclase a method is being developed for production of forsterite tuyeres from magnesia-silicate refractory materials taking into consideration their lower wettability by the metal and quite high refractoriness.The wetting angle by high-carbon steel of specimens of forsterite is 133 ~ and of fused periclase 120~ * A lot of parts was prepared for ladle treatment of steel with inert gases. # The parts were prepared from charges of two compositions.The grain size composition of the filler was varied from 3 mm to 60 ~m. The forming was done on a 4KF-200 press with three strikes of the punch. The formed parts had a satisfactory external appearance and accurate faces.The apparent density of the green compact was 2.46 g/cm ~.The parts were fired in a tunnel kiln in the center part of a charge of chrome-magnesite brick with the following temperatures by positions (with 16 pushes of the cars per day):Posido~:
