The magnitude of variability and its genetic components are the most pivotal aspects of breeding material. Variability in tomato is anticipated to be immense as the fruits vary greatly in shape and size (Dixit and Dubey, 1985;Bhardwaj and Sharma, 2005). Studies
The efficacy of two selected fungicides i.e., tebuconazole and coppoer hydroxide, was conducted experiments in laboratory and copper hydroxide on the two specific enzymes phosphatase and urease were determined in two different soil samples (red sandy loam and black clay soils) of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) from cultivated fields of Anantapuramu District, Andhra Pradesh. The activities of the selected soil enzymes were determined by incubating the selected fungicides-treated (1.0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 kg ha−1) and -untreated groundnut soil samples at 10 day intervals. By determining the effective concentration, the rate of selected enzyme activity was estimated by adding the suitable substrate at 10, 20, 30 and 40 days of soil incubation. Both the enzyme activities were increased up to 5.0 kg ha−1 level of fungicide in both soil samples significantly at 10 days of soil incubation and further enhanced up to 20 days of incubation. The activity of the phosphatase and urease decreased progressively at 30 and 40 days of incubation. From overall studies, higher concentrations (7.5 and 10.0 kg ha−1) of both tebuconazole and copper hydroxide were toxic to phosphatase and urease activities, respectively, in both soil samples.
The sounds produced by humans, industries, transport and animals in the atmosphere that pose a threat to the health of humans or animals can be characterized as noise pollution. Adverse effects due to noise exposure can involve speech communication interference and declining learning skills of children. Highway traffic noise contributes to 80% of all noise. It has grown to a massive scale because of growth in population along the roads leading to a rapid change in land use and has evolved into a common reality in various Indian cities. The main objective of this work is to develop a road traffic noise prediction model using ArcGIS 10.3 for the busy corridors of Chennai. The collected data includes traffic volume, speed, and noise level in lateral and vertical directions. Noise levels were measured in 9 locations using a noise level meter. It is observed that the noise levels vary from 50 dB to 96 dB. It is found that the noise problem is severe in 18% of the area, and 6.3% of people are exposed to the traffic noise problem. The results obtained in this study show that the city is affected by severe noise pollution due to road traffic.
Groundwater is essential to the sustainability of India’s environment, economy, and living conditions because it isn’t just the primary source of domestic supply of water in rural areas, but it is also the major and most productive origin of the water. The increased demand for groundwater as a result of reduced rainfall has put a strain on groundwater resources in areas where groundwater is the primary supply of water. The main aim of this study is to identify and explore the groundwater potential zones in Talupula Mandal of 280.3 km2 in Ananthapur district in Andhra Pradesh, India with semi-arid climatic conditions. Based on the field survey approach, groundwater availability is found out in the villages. Schlumberger Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) survey technique was used to discover the resistivity and thickness of the unmistakable layers. It was carried out in 18 randomly selected sites where groundwater plays an important role in agricultural and domestic use. The thickness and resistivity of first- and second-layer crack sites of the various layers were separated from ground data using IPI2WIN programming. Using software, graphs were plotted and groundwater potential zones were identified for recharging the groundwater. Based on the results, different models of recharge structures for the study area are identified and recommended. Hence the management of groundwater paves the way for sustainable groundwater levels.
