Purpose
Digital humanities (DH) is a scholarly lens through which computing methods and technological tools are used for the research of humanistic disciplines. The purpose of this study is to identify the current practicing situation of DH in the university libraries of Bangladesh.
Design/methodology/approach
Survey methods were used for gathering data using a well-structured questionnaire. The websites of different universities national and international organizations, and DH-related websites from different corners of the globe were also used for the gathering of data and information.
Findings
The findings revealed that there are some hindrances to practicing DH, such as lack of IT skills, funds and problems with intellectual property rights act practicing and provided some suitable suggestions for the advancement of DH in the university libraries of Bangladesh.
Originality/value
The outcome of this paper might be a valuable reference tool for researchers and professionals of the DH discipline. The insights and views of the respondents regarding computational tools and technologies obtained from this study are original and unique in nature.
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to review the literature on digital content management (DCM) published between 2001 and 2021, as well as to provide insights and research directions for the future.
Design/methodology/approach
This study followed the systematic literature review framework PRISMA for reviewing existing literature on DCM. The PRISMA checklist helps the researcher in refining the reporting of the review paper. Data was collected from Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases. A total of 136 documents were selected for analysis from Scopus and WoS.
Findings
Based on current papers, this study attempted to discuss some key DCM trends and themes. Seven themes have been identified in the literature: virtual reality and its implications on DCM; personal DCM; microservices based DCM; model for DCM; DCM using Bluetooth Low Emergency technology; DCM software; and DCM codification. This study identifies influential authors, top contributing countries, top contributing institutions, most cited papers, most common title words and contributions by fields.
Originality/value
The findings of this study, as well as future research projects, open the path for more research and contributions to the field.
Some records will be kept for a year as it has enduring value that shows evidence from previous business transaction or evidence from the pass event. It will select for permanent preservation called archival collection. In order to preserve the archival collection for future use that might be precious to some organization, digitization is the best solution that can be taken. As to digitize archival collection for public access, some sort of criteria need to be considered. This article discussed on human factors that may affect the selection of archival collection for digitization project.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
