Indonesia is the 9th largest pineapple producer in the world with a production of 1.39 million tons per year. this makes the pineapple leaf fiber (PALF) waste available abundantly in Indonesia. Palf waste has not been widely used in Indonesia. palf is usually used as fabric for textiles or yarn to be used as clothes and as handicrafts. palf has excellent mechanical properties and is environmentally friendly. in this study palf is used as a material for construction. Adding fiber to the concrete mixture is one way to minimize cracks in the concrete. This study aims to increase the compressive strength, tensile strength of concrete and utilize palf potential as construction material. This study compares the compressive strength and tensile strength of normal concrete against compressive strength and tensile strength of concrete with the addition of pineapple fiber with variations of 0%, 0.5 %, 1%, 1.5% to the weight of cement. The specimen used was a cylinder with a diameter of 15cm and a height of 30cm. The test is carried out on specimens with the age of 28 days. Experimental results show that inclusion of Palf improves the split tensile strength and compressive strenghth of concrete.
The Joint Business Group of Pondok Maggot Marelan which is located in the Village of Falls, District of Medan Marelan, Medan City is a business group that carries out the cultivation of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) which has been able to produce maggot larvae of about 60 kg per week. The existence of this group is very helpful for the community and the local government in managing the existing organic waste. The increase in the production of maggot larvae is hampered because the capacity of the maggot house is still too small. In addition, the processing of existing maggot larvae is also still limited, namely as chicken or duck feed. This service aims to assist partners in increasing and managing the production of existing maggot larvae. Making maggot houses and training in making floating fish feed using maggot larvae is also important as an alternative in post-harvest management of maggot larvae. This service output program includes fish feed training services, making BSF maggot houses with temperature and humidity sensors, activity videos, and scientific articles. BSF cultivation counseling and training activities have been carried out well. The conclusion of this activity is an increase in maggot production due to the addition of BSF maggot biopond houses. In addition, partners also gain new knowledge in the form of how to manage BSF maggots into floating fish feed that can be used in freshwater fish farming.
Sei Siarti Village, Panai Tengah District, Labuhanbatu Regency have problems in the form of limited clean water sources that are suitable for use. There are several potentials including peat water, drilled well water, and Barumun river water that crosses the village. The condition of peat water that does not comply with quality standards for water that is fit for consumption has a brownish color, high acidity, and the organic matter contained in peat water is high enough to cause an odor. The well water has a salty taste (high salt content) so that what has the potential is Barumun river water even though it has a cloudy color. The method used to purify cloudy river water is through the processes of coagulation (deposition), filtration (filtering), absorption (absorption), and adsorption (ion exchange). This water purifier is made using 2 tubes filled with silica sand, MGS, activated carbon, and zeolite sand so that the water produced is clear and fit for consumption and can be utilized by the surrounding community. The results obtained from this water purification are water that does not have a smell, taste, and is clear in color so that it is suitable for use by the surrounding community
Keberadaan zat polutan merupakan ancaman serius dalam kesehatan. Salah satu zat polutan dalam mempengaruhi kualitas udara adalah gas karbonmonoksida. Sebagian besar karbon monoksida berasal dari emisi gas buang kendaraan bermotor. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuat alat ukur emisi gas karbonmonoksida kendaraan bermotor menggunakan sensor gas TGS 822. Metode penelitian ini dimulai dengan desain perangkat keras menggunakan sensor gas TGS822 sebagai sensor gas karbonmonoksida kemudian diproses dengan mikrokontroller arduino uno dan transfer data oleh Bluetooth. Hasil pembacaan nilai polutan kemudian diproses dengan mikrokontroler dan ditampilkan dalam layar komputer dengan menggunakan konektor bluetooth sehingga bisa dipantau secara realtime. Data yang didapat dari hasil pengujian kemudian dianalisis menggunakan persamaan regresi dengan membandingkan dengan data hasil pembacaan alat ukur standar. Hasil dari pengujian alat menunjukkan nilai persamaan regresi y = -0,0641x ± 38.438 dengan nilai R2 = 0,9997. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan korelasi yang kuat antara data dari CO meter dengan alat ukur emisi gas CO yang dibuat.
Marindal 1 Village is one of the villages located in Patumbak District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province with an area of 810 Ha. Administratively, Marindal 1 Village consists of 12 hamlets and has a population of about 37,000 people. A group of people who are members of the wood processing business are engaged in the business of making furniture such as making frames, windows, and doors. The equipment used in cutting and splitting wood is assembled equipment that is prone to work accidents. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic has also had an impact on decreasing the market share of the wood processing business. Therefore, a solution is needed in the form of an automatic wood-cutting spindle machine to prevent work accidents as well as training and assistance in the digitalization process of wood processing businesses so that they are better known by the community outside Marindal 1 Village in the hope of increasing sales turnover. The method used in this service consists of 2, namely the provision of a spindle moulder machine and the socialization of assistance in making digital marketing to partners. The output of this service is in the form of publications in national journals, YouTube videos, print and electronic media, and IPR from service videos.
