The present study describes the associated relationship between the length-weight, sex ratio and related condition factor of Tenualosa ilisha based on the length and weight data collected from the commercial landing station of BFDC, Cox’s Bazar, from January 2019 to December 2019. The work was carried out on 866 specimens (307 male and 559 female) ranging from 8.4 to 53.6 cm in length and weight of fishes ranging from 7 to 1977g, respectively. The reproductive attributes of T. ilisha appeared in the sex proportions (M: F=1:2) which revealed the prevalence of females in comparison with males. The external observation was taken into consideration to determine the gender of Hilsa. The relationship of length-weight was fitted with the pooled data for males and females independently of all month-to-month samples which results the BW=0.0104TL2.9795 (R2=0.9636) and BW=0.0019TL3.4689 (R2=0.8461) respectively. The results expressed a higher correlation in between the length-weight (r>0.91). The length wise relative condition factor of T. ilisha was estimated as 1.02, 0.9, 1.05, 1.03, and 1.02 at the length group of 0-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60 respectively indicating fluctuation of condition factor within the size group. The overall KR for T. ilisha was 0.9-1.22 in which maximum KR was found in July while the minimum was in March. The KR was strongly correlated with TL and BW.
Absract: Over a period of 213-day, the effect of two stocking densities (8 and 12 fish/m 3 ) on the performance of the rabbitfish, Siganus canaliculatus (3.38g ±0.14) in floating cage nets was tested. The results of the study revealed no differences (p < 0.05) in the growth performance and survival of the two groups. Comparatively, the fish group under the higher stocking density (12 fish/m 3 ) exhibited a lower survival rate. The values of feed intake, feed utilization efficiency and final body composition for both treatments did not differ significantly (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the study suggested the possibility of applying higher stocking density in commercial rabbitfish farming. However, more studies are needed on the effects of high stocking densities on fish survival.
An experiment was conducted to develop a culture system for producing brackishwater shrimp, Penaeus monodon, at a management strategy affordable for marginal to medium farmers. Shrimp was produced by two cropping patterns viz., short cycle (60 days) double crops and long cycle (120 days) single crop each at three stocking densities viz., 3, 5, 7 nos./m2. The analysis of results revealed that production of shrimp of 913.57 - 1429.38 kg/ha in long cycle single crop was higher than that of 804.42 - 1296.87 kg/ha in aggregate of short cycle double crops at 3 - 5 nos./m2 density, but at 7 nos./m2 density, production of shrimp of 1899.39 kg/ha was higher in short cycle double crops than that of 1857.31 kg/ha in long cycle single crop. The differences in production between two cropping patterns at different densities were not significant. Gross margin was higher in high stocking ponds in both short and long cycle cropping pattern and it was 1.75 - 2.24 times higher in long cycle culture than that short cycle culture. However, considering higher benefit cost ratio and requirement of supply of oxygen for the production management, it can be surmised that production of shrimp in short cycle double crops at 5 nos./m2 densities will be better affordable for marginal to medium farmers having limited resource.Bangladesh J. The experience of pediatric populations and their families with chronic illness and overall health conditions, involves multiple variables. This paper will explore the dynamics of such variables, particularly as it pertains to the Gulf region of the Arab population. Preexisting research demonstrates the multi-faceted dimensions of pediatric illness as it impacts acceptance, compliance, and overall coping and quality of life. Within the Gulf community, it is imperative to integrate the complex nature of the family unit into treatment planning and management including gender and familial roles, and overall familial processes and dynamics. Cultural and spiritual perceptions of childhood development and illness also impart a role in adaptive coping and mediate ethical considerations within the sub-context of communication and decision making. Implications for the role of the mental health care professional and future research will also be overviewed.
