The isolation and identification of microorganisms associated with digital dermatitis (DD) in Turkish dairy cattle was investigated using punch skin biopsy samples from typical clinical lesions; they were collected from dairy farms and abattoirs in 5 different geographical locations in Turkey. Morphological characteristics and flagellation types were examined using a transmission electron microscope, and their enzyme profiles by enzyme activation kits; their catalase reaction characteristics were evaluated by the addition of 3% HO. Their phylogenies were identified using 16S rRNA and the results compared with known gene bank data. Bacterial cells were 5.0 to 18.2 µm long, 0.2 to 0.5 µm wide, and their minimum number of periplasmic flagellum was 4 (4:8:4) with a maximum of 8 (8:16:8). All isolates were catalase negative. Of the spirochetes isolated and identified, group I organisms showed close similarity with Treponema pedis (99% genetic homology), whereas those in group II were similar to Treponema phagedenis (98% homology). This is the first report of specific sub-groups of Treponema spp., isolated from Turkish dairy cattle presenting with DD lesions, being associated with this disease; these morphotypes were similar to those found globally in housed dairy cattle units and are probably significant microorganisms associated with the aetiopathogensis of this infectious disease causing acute bovine lameness. These results suggest that the distribution of DD-associated treponemes is not specific to particular geographic regions of Turkey.
Çalışmamızda Mehmet Akif Ersoy Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi Anatomi Anabilim Dalı'ndan temin edilen gerçek iskelet modell eri Anatomi I dersinde Lokomotor Sistem konularında uygulama derslerinde kullanıldı. Modellerin etkinliğini ve öğrenci beklentile rini ölçmek için 32 maddeden oluşan Likert tipi tutum ölçeği geliştirildi. Ölçekteki maddeler "motivasyon", "öğrenme-anlama" ve "gelecekte bilgiyi kullanma" boyutları olarak alt gruplara ayrılarak değerlendirildi. Tutum ölçeği 2014-2015 ve 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim dönemi öğrencilerine uygulandı. Elde edilen veriler SPSS 13.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) kullanılarak çözümlendi. Bund an dolayı modern eğitim araçlarının yanında gerçek iskelet modelleri gibi canlı hayvandan elde edilmiş geleneksel eğitim araçlar ı Anatomi eğitiminde kendine her zaman yer bulacaktır.
Öz: Sunulan araştırmada 5 adet ergin erkek doğan (Falco columbarius)'ın plexus lumbosacralis'ini oluşturan spinal sinirlerin stereomikroskop altında diseksiyonu yapılarak; sinirli liflerinin seyirleri ve innerve ettikleri bölgeler ortaya konmuştur. Plexus lumbosacralis'in synsacrum'un ventral'inde yer alan altı (2-7) adet synsacral spinal sinirin ramus ventralis'lerinden oluşturulduğu gözlendi. Plexus lumbalis'in os ilium'um cranioventral'inde 2.-4. spinal sinirlerin ventral dalları, plexus sacralis'in ise 4.-7. spinal sinirlerin ventral dalları tarafından meydana geldiği tespit edildi. Truncus caudalis'in ise foramen ischiadicum düzeyinde diğer iki truncus'a katıldığı ve n. ischiadicus'u oluşturduğu belirlendi.Abstract: In this study, in five adut Merlin (Falco columbarius) it was aimed to identify the branches and innervation areas of spinal nerves that compose plexus lumbosacralis by dissecting under stereomicroscope. It was observed that plexus lumbosacralis was formed by six ramus ventralis of synsacral spinal nerves (2-7) located ventral to synsacrum. Plexus lumbalis was formed by ramus ventralis of 2-4 spinal nerves that settled at the cranioventral aspect of the ilium whereas ramus ventralis from 4th to 7th spinal nerves generated the plexus sacralis. Truncus cranialis and truncus medianus merged as a single root around the fossa renalis. Truncus caudalis further joined two truncus at the level of foramen ischiadicum to form n. ischiadicus.
