Advancements in information and communication technologies have enhanced our possibilities to communicate worldwide, eliminating borders and making it possible to interact with people coming from other cultures like never happened before. Such powerful tools have brought us to reconsider our concept of privacy and social involvement in order to make them fit into this wider environment. It is possible to claim that the information and communication technologies (ICT) revolution is changing our world and is having a core role as a mediating factor for social movements (e.g., Arab spring) and political decisions (e.g., Brexit), shaping the world in a faster and shared brand new way. It is then interesting to explore how the perception of this brand new environment (in terms of social engagement, privacy perception and sense of belonging to a community) differs even in similar cultures separated by recent historical reasons. Recent historical events may in effect have shaped a different psychological representation of Participation, Privacy and Sense of Community in ICT environments, determining a different perception of affordances and concerns of these complex behaviors. The aim of this research is to examine the relation between the constructs of Sense of Community, Participation and Privacy compared with culture and gender, considering the changes that have occurred in the last few years with the introduction of the web environment. A questionnaire, including ad hoc created scales for Participation and Privacy, have been administered to 180 participants from Turkey and Italy. In order to highlight the cultural differences in the perception of these two constructs, we have provided a semantic differential to both sub-samples showing interesting outcomes. The results are then discussed while taking into account the recent history of both countries in terms of the widespread of new technologies, political actions and protest movements.
Values are chosen life choices that are under our control, that we can choose freely, and that can be prioritized. University years are the years when individuals think about the meaning of life, question their values and beliefs, and develop behaviors that are compatible with social life. In this study, one of the components of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, the concept of values was studied. The study group of the study consisted of 34 psychological counselor candidates who took the Group Counseling Practices course in 2018-2019 Spring Term. Valuing Questionnaire was used to determine the values of the psychological counselor candidates and whether they lead a life compatible with these values. While the control group had a psychological counseling experience with a group based on interaction, the experimental group included value-oriented practices based on ACT as well as ingroup interaction. As a result of the research, it was observed that the psychological counselor candidates made progress in realizing their values and living in line with their own values at the end of the group counseling sessions based on ACT. The significant increase in the Valuing Questionnaire posttest scores of the psychological counselor candidates showed that value-based group work could be studied on university students.
Bu çalışmada, grupla psikolojik danışma uygulamaları dersinin psikolojik danışman adaylarının iletişim becerileri ve kendini açma düzeyleri üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla grupla danışma uygulaması dersini alan psikolojik danışma ve rehberlik son sınıf öğrencilerinden ders sürecinin başında ve sonunda iki ayrı ölçüm alınmıştır. Bu ölçümler yolu ile grupla psikolojik danışma uygulamalarının etkililiği sınanmış ve bu uygulamaların öğrencilerin kendini açma düzeyleri ve kişilerarası iletişim becerileri üzerindeki etkisi test edilmiştir. Çalışma grubunu, 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılında grupla psikolojik danışma uygulamaları dersini alan 79 lisans öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Araştırma grubu toplamda on oturum olarak planlanan ve grup içi etkileşime dayalı altı ayrı psikolojik danışma grubundan oluşturulmuştur. Çalışma verileri Kendini Açma Ölçeği ve İletişim Becerileri Envanteri ile toplanmıştır. Grupla psikolojik danışma uygulaması dersi sonunda öğrencilerin kendini açmanın alt boyutları olan niyet ve miktar puanlarında anlamlı bir artış gözlenmiştir.Ayrıca öğrencilerin iletişim becerilerinin tüm alt boyutlarında aldıkları puan da anlamlı bir şekilde artmıştır.
