Urrtersuchurigm ubar Augenmuufs urrd iytische Tauschungm; oon A u g u s t K u n d t .z u den nachstehenden Untersuchungen gaben folgende zwei optische Tauschungen, die mir vor liingerer Zeit gezeigt wurden, die Veranlassung :Wenn man zwei parallele Linien durch andere sich kreazende Linien schneidet ( Fig. 1. Taf. III), so erscheilien die Parallelen zwischeii den kreuzenden Geraden ausgebauscht, ihr normaler Abstand von eiuander scheiut hier grdfser zu sejn, als an den andern Stellen. Man schneide zwei parallele Linien durch eine dritte Gerade, lame aber das Sttick derselben, welches zwischen die Parallelen fallen wurde, weg (Fig. 2 Taf. 111). Sodann ziehe man in dem stumpfen Winkel, den eiue der Parallelen und ein Stiick der Schneidenden bilden, in geringem Abstande von der letztereu, eiue ihr parallele Liuie. Man wird sodaun fiuden, dafs diese neue Linie als die Verllngerung des anderen Stuckes der Schrggen erscheint. In Fig. 2 Taf. 111 h d t man nicht die Linie b ftir die Fortsetzung von a, sondern c. 1)abei ist nur zu hemerken, d a b man ohne laoge zu urtheilen und zu visiren, senkrecht auf die Zeichuuug sehen mufs.Als ich bereits eine Anzahl nelrer Taoschungen construirt hatte, erfuhr ich, dafs die in Fig. 4 Taf. 111. abgebildete Pseudoskopie bereits voni Hrn. Bald nachdem H a l l entdeckt hatte, dass die Aequipotentiallinien eines galvanischen Stromes , welcher eine diinne Platte durchfliesst, durch eine magnetisirende Kraft, deren Richtung senkrecht zu der Ebene der Platte ist, gedreht werden, gab er auch das experimentelle Gesetz fur diese Erscheinung, die jetzt allgemein den Namen des Hall'schen Phanomens fiihrt. Wir nehmen die gewohnliche Anordnung , bei welcher eine rechteckige Platte zwischen zwei parallelen Polflachen eines Electromagneten so aufgestellt ist, dass die Platte den Polflachen parallel steht. Auf zwei gegeniiberliegenden Kanten derselben sind der Lange nach zwei Drahte als Electroden aufgelothet, welche zur Zufuhrung des Stromes, den wir kurz den primaren nennen wollen, dienen. In der Mitte der anderen beiden Kanten sind an zwei Punkten gleichen Potentials des die Platte durchfliessenden Stromes zwei punktformige Electroden angebracht. Zwischen diesen tritt hei Erregung des Electromagneten eine Potentialdifferenz, e, auf, dereii Grosse nach H a l l ist R . J . M d e = ____. J bezeichnet hierbei die Intensitat des Primarstromes, M die Starke des magnetischen Feldes, d die Dicke der Platt,e. R bezeichnet eine fur das Material der Platte charakteristische Constante, welche Hall den ,,Rotationscoefficienten" des betreffenden Materials nennt. Er bezeichnet den letzteren als positir , wenn die Drehung der Aequipotentiallinien in demselben Sinne erfolgt, wie der das Magnetfeld erregende Strom fliesst; findet das Umgekehrte statt, so wird der Coefficient negativ bezeichnet. Die durch die Formel ausgedriickte Abhangigkeit der Grosse e von der Dicke der Platte und der Intensitat des Primamtromes ist durch die Qersuche von H a l l und anderen, insbesondere durch A. v. E t t i n g s h a u s e n nnd W. N e r n s t hinreichend bestatigt. Anders liegt es mit Ann. d. Phys. u. Chem. N. F. 49.
