Les immigrants récents, particulièrement les réfugiés et ceux qui viennent rejoindre des membres de leur famille, détiennent les plus faibles compétences en littératie. Puisque maîtriser un niveau acceptable en littératie est indispensable pour fonctionner au sein de la société et pour occuper un emploi, certains immigrants ont des difficultés à s’intégrer au Québec. L’objectif de cet article est de connaître l’influence d’un faible niveau de littératie chez les adultes allophones dans les domaines de l’emploi et de la santé au Québec. Cette recension d’écrits indique que ces difficultés d’intégration par manque de compétences en littératie s’apparentent en termes d’emploi à un taux de chômage et de déclassement plus élevé, malgré une scolarité postsecondaire, et à un plus faible revenu. La santé mentale et physique semble également affectée par ce manque de compétences en littératie.
