La adolescencia es un periodo que se caracteriza por cambios a nivel físico, psicológico y social, es durante este periodo cuando la persona se enfrenta a la elaboración del concepto de sí misma y expuesta a factores de riesgo como la presión que ejerce el grupo de pares para el consumo de alcohol y de tabaco. La presión de grupo es entendida como los recursos que utilizan los pares para incitar al consumo y es de forma directa o indirecta, por lo que es necesario que el adolescente desarrolle de habilidades que le brinden la oportunidad de resistirse ante tal ofrecimiento. El objetivo del presente ensayo es describir la resistencia a la presión de pares y las herramientas necesarias como decir no, manejar las burlas y ofensas ante el ofrecimiento, expresar su desacuerdo ante el consumo, entre otras para resistir la presión de pares y no consumir estas sustancias. Dado que las estrategias de resistencia a la presión de pares en el consumo de alcohol y tabaco en la adolescencia favorece el cambio hacia la etapa de la adultez.
