Objectives: Dentin block can be effective option in managing the lateral bone defect site indicated for implant placement. The Present study evaluates outcome of clinical use of the autogenous dentin block graft in lateral ridge augmentation and assess increase of the width of the alveolar ridge. Subjects and methods: The Eight patients were included in one group and all of them were subjected to A full-thickness muco-periosteal flap. The extracted tooth was trimmed to adapt very closely over the recipient bone.The recipient site was subsequently decorticated. The dentin block was stabilized with one titanium mini screw of suitable length. After 6 months, the ridge width and Bone density were recorded. Results: Ridge width: There was a statistically significant increase in ridge width after 6 month. The gain was 3.49 ± 0.83. Bone Density, Mean bone density was 611.38 ± 257.40 after 6 month. Conclusion: Dentin block can be used as a grafting material. There is no donor site morbidity and this is considered one of advantages of this grafting material.
Objective: This study was designed to evaluate and compare between the using of oral appliance therapy alone and using of oral appliance with laser therapy for management of anterior disc displacement of the temporomandibular joint. Subjects and methods: randomized clinical study was done on 18 patients complaining of TMJ Anterior disc displacement. They were divided into 2 equal groups. Group A:occlusal appliance group. Those patients worn the hard acrylic occlusal appliance covering the maxillary teeth (anterior repositioning splint) at night for two months. Group B: laser therapy group. Those patients worn the hard acrylic occlusal appliance covering the maxillary teeth (anterior repositioning splint) at night and receive laser applications on the region of temporalis muscle, masseter muscle and mandibular condyle three times a week for 4 weeks. Full clinical TMJ examination was done at baseline, one week, one month and two months postoperatively. The examination was done to evaluate T.M.J pain intensity by (VAS), TMJ clicking Sounds and Maximum mouth opening. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performed before and after treatment period. Results There was high percentage of improvement in all symptoms of anterior disc displacement either with or without reduction by using of double action of splint and laser rather than the improvement by using splint only. Conclusion: The using of splint only is acceptable and successful but the using of the laser with splint is better and more successful in treatment of the patients complained from anterior disc displacement of the temporomandibular joint.
This study was conducted to compare the final outcome of treatment of anterior disc displacement without reduction (ADDWoR) by using centric and anterior repositioning splints. Twenty patients, (16 females and 4 males) were included in this study with age ranged from 18-35 years, who were suffering from anterior disc displacement without reduction. Selected patients were divided into two equal groups; ten patients each according to the type of the occlusal splint. Group (I): included patients treated with a centric splints. Group(II): included patients treated with anterior repositioning splints. Clinical evaluation was performed before and after 15, 30, 90, and 180 days of splint therapy. Electromyography was done before and after three and six months post-treatment. Data were collected, tabulated, calculated and statistically analyzed. The results of this study showed that there was significant improvement in clinical and electromyographic results with no statistically significant difference between two types of used splints. It could be concluded that splint therapy as a non-invasive technique improved significantly symptoms of ADDWoR, regardless the type of splint used.(1396) Atef M. Hassaneen E.D.
