Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi adanya pergeseran dan penurunan tradisi upacara Merti Dusun seperti penurunan kepercayaan, faktor ekonomi dan perubahan pola pikir masyarakat dalam memaknai prosesi tradisi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah umtuk mengetahui: (1) Bagaimanakah prosesi upacara Merti Dusun Kadilobo Kecamatan Pakem dan makna tradisi Merti Dusun. (2) Hal-hal apakah yang menyebabkan penurunan prosesi dan makna tradisi Merti Dusun di Dusun Kadilobo. (3) Apakah ada pergeseran prosesi dan makna dalam tradisi Merti Dusun di Dusun Kadilobo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dengan cara observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumetasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Pengecekan keabsahan data penelitian menggunakan triangulasi teori Struktural Fungsional dari Talcott Parsons untuk menganalisis temuan hasil penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menujukkan bahwa: (1) Merti Dusun merupakan upacara tradisi masyarakat di Dusun Kadilobo yang memiliki makna filosofis sebagai wujud terima kasih dan rasa syukur kepada Allah (2) Adanya penurunan pada prosesi dan makna kuantitas pada tradisi isi karena disebabkan oleh antusias warga yang mulai berkurang. Selain itu lemahnya ekonomi dan pemahaman serta proses internalisasi budaya menjadi salah satu pemicu menurannya tradisi tersebut. Hal lainnya adalah berkenaan dengan kendala pembagian tugas kepanitiaan serta munculnya pola pikir masyarakat yang lebih modern (3) Pergeseran pada prosesi dan makna mengakibatkan berubahnya prosesi Merti Dusun pada setiap tahunnya. Perubahan dan pergeseran makna menjadikan pemahaman baru bagi masyarakat bahwa tradisi Merti Dusun tidak menjadi suatu hal yang harus dilaksanakan secara besar-besaran. The background of this research is that there are shifts and declines in the Merti Dusun ceremonial tradition such as a decline in belief, economic factors and changes in mindset. The purpose of this study was to find out: (1) The Merti Dusun Kadilobo ceremony procession, Pakem District and the meaning of the Merti Dusun tradition. (2) Things that cause a decline in procession and meaning the Merti Dusun tradition in Dusun Kadilobo. (3) Is there a shift in the procession and meaning in the Merti Dusun tradition in Dusun Kadilobo. The method used in this research is a case study qualitative research method. Data collection techniques were carried out by direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used in this research are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Data validity check using the Structural Functional theoretical conception of Talcott Parsons to analyze and find the results of the study. The results of this study show that: (1) Merti Dusun is a traditional ceremony of the people in Kadilobo Hamlet which has a philosophical meaning as a form of gratitude and gratitude to God (2) There is a decrease in procession and meaning quantity in the tradition of content because it is caused by the enthusiasm of the residents who are starting to decrease. In addition, the weakness of the economy and understanding and the process of internalizing culture is one of the triggers for the decline of the tradition. Another thing is related to the obstacles in the division of committee tasks and the emergence of a more modern society mindset. (3) The shift in procession and meaning has resulted in changes in the Merti Dusun procession every year. Changes and shift in meaning create a new understanding for the community that the Merti Dusun tradition is not something that must be carried out on a large scale.
