Since it was declared a pandemic outbreak, the COVID 19 virus has become one of the main focuses of countries in the world in efforts to prevent the spread of the virus, including Indonesia. The areas of greatest severity in Indonesia include Jakarta, East Java, West Java and South Sulawesi. South Sulawesi Province is recorded as the largest area exposed to the COVID 19 pandemic outside Java Island. Predicting the number of COVID 19 cases is an alternative in preventing the spread through making government policies based on predictive data. This article presents a predictive model for the number of COVID 19 cases based on the ARIMA, Holt Winters and Nonlinear Autoregressive Neural Network (NAR-NN) Model. The results of the analysis show that the ARIMA Model (1,1,1) has a better level of prediction accuracy than the HW and NAR-NN models based on the MAPE criteria. Meanwhile, for the RMSE, MAE and MPE criteria, the NAR-NN model is better than others.
The development of COVID-19 has had a significant negative impact on Indonesia’s economic growth based on the indicator of the value of the quarterly year of year data in 2020 and 2021. Economic growth is still experiencing a recession per first quarter with a percentage of - 2.19 percent at the beginning of 2021. The government has to take vaccination measures for the community gradually with the aim of reducing the number of sufferers of these cases. The purpose of this study is to predict economic growth quarterly after vaccination using 3 (three) univariate time series models, namely ARIMA, Holt-Winters and Dynamic Linear models for policymaking. Holt-Winters and Dynamic Linear models make it possible to handle time-series data containing trends and seasonality. The data is divided into training data and test data obtained from the ministry of finance and the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The goodness of the model uses MSE, MAE and U-Theil criteria. Based on the results of the analysis using the R library, the results show that the best modelling for economic growth data is the ARIMA model with the lowest MSE, MAE and U-Theil values with the difference between the models being 0.000242. The ARIMA model looks better than other models because the economic growth data only contains trends and assumes a seasonal element in the data. In addition, the Holt-Winters and Dynamic Linear models produce a forecast for Indonesia’s economic growth to still experience a recession (negative growth) in the next four quarterly data, while the ARIMA model produces a positive growth forecast in the fourth quarter.
This paper depicts the frameworks of spatial regression methods which cover the spatial interaction effects and apply it to analyze the spatial distribution of poverty area for five districts in West Sulawesi. These methods consider queen contiguity-based spatial weights to create spatially lagged variables and apply to Spatial Lag Model, Spatial Error Model (SEM), Spatial Durbin Model and Ordinary Least Square (OLS) Model. The percentage of poverty area represents the observed dependent variable in this article while several independent variables are recorded by the previous research and correlated to poverty. The analysis results showed that the spatial effects should be involved to the econometric model because an estimated spatial parameter is statistically significant. To select model criteria, AIC and Likelihood ratio test are used and this criteria highlight Spatial Lag Model is better than the other model.
There are various types of data, one of which is the time-series data. This data type is capable of predicting future data with a similar speed as the forecasting method of analysis. This method is applied by Bank Indonesia (BI) in determining currency inflows and outflows in society. Moreover, Inflows and outflows of currency are monthly time-series data which are assumed to be influenced by time. In this study, several forecasting methods were used to predict this flow of currency including ARIMA, Time Series Regression (TSR), ARIMAX, and NN. Furthermore, RMSE accuracy was used in selecting the best method for predicting the currency flow. The results showed that the ARIMAX method was the best for forecasting because this method had the smallest RMSE.
