Acute myocardial infarction during pregnancy or the postpartum period is rare. We report a case of a 39-year-old postpartum woman who developed non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction due to severe diffuse coronary vasospasm. To our knowledge, this is the first case of angiographically evidenced coronary vasospasm, in a postpartum woman, with resistance to intracoronary nitroglycerin.
The relation between the migraine and cardiovascular system is an interesting and yet complex. The migraine headache, specifically with aura, has been suggested to be associated with certain cardiovascular disorders. The exact explanation of this association still mysterious, but it has been suggested that spreading depressions waves of the cortex may play a critical role in changing brain blood flow which may lead to ischemic changes. Patients with migraine headache associated with aura are more predisposed to genetic cardiovascular disease associated risk factors including hypertension, hyperlipidemia and diabetes. Moreover, the risks of arrhythmia and mitral valve prolapse have been found to be different from normal population. It is important for healthcare providers to be aware of those findings in their assessment of the cardiovascular disease risk in migrainueres. In this review article will discuss this association
Atrial fibrillation stands as one of the most common supraventricular arrhythmias. Its incidence in general population has escalated significantly over the last few decades. The health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of patients with atrial fibrillation is currently a vital concern in cardiovascular health management. Accordingly, key elements of meager HRQoL of AF patients demand better clarification. Nowadays, several reports have tested the mutual relation between anxiety and AF initiation and progression. Significantly, anxiety affects how the patients approach their disease and, additionally, anxiety may affect the efficiency of various AF therapies. The goal of this research is to explore an area that considered by patients to be challenging before the therapeutic work-up. Study concluded that there is a multifaceted relationship between AF and anxiety. AF can ground anxiety among patients and equally, anxiety can pave a background that is favorable for the initiation and Progression of AF.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
