The Beverton and Holt (1966) yield-per-recmit model was conducted in order to evaluate the status of the fishery. The results indicated that the Siganus rivulatus resource in the Gulf of Suez is slightly overexploited (E = 0.55).

In the current work, the overall ratio between males and females of Sarpa salpa was 1:0.32. The first sexual maturity of males was recorded at length group (21.1-24cm) by 66.6% and the female was recorded at length group (24.1-27) by 50%. Ovaries of S. salpa were examined. The smallest mature female had a total body length of 29 cm and 387.73 gm weight with absolute fecundity of 2,978,440 eggs. The largest female had total body length of 39 cm and body weight of 918.86 gm with absolute fecundity 1,685,729 eggs. Based on the results of maturity stages, gonadosomatic indices (G.S.I) and ova diameters, the study showed clearly that spawning season of S. salpa in the Libyan coast of the Mediterranean waters extends from October to December.

ABSTRACTree living nematodes represent the most abundant and diversified group of the interstitial meiobenthos in the northern Red Sea, where their contribution ranged between 38 and 100% of total count of all interstitial organisms. Nematodes distribution, abundance and species composition in the Egyptian Red Sea were studied during winter, 2006. Nematodes abundance ranged between 8 and 163 organisms/10 cm 2 . The intertidal zonation was investigated and showed increasing in the average density of nematodes toward low tide mark (sublittoral zone). A total of 79 nematode species were recorded; xyalid and oncholaimid were the most abundant families contributing 12% for each of total nematodes count. Densities of nematodes were affected by the grain size of the sediment, TOMs and redox potential (Eh). Also, pollution and landfilling have the most drastic effect on their abundance and diversity.

In this study, the Fisheries database were collected from GADFR (2007) and interviews with fishermen to throw a light on fisheries resources in the environment of Bitter lakes. Fishing boats, gears, number of fishermen and catch. The total catch of 2007 was 3090919 kg and the highest catch value was in summer, whereas the minimum catch value was in winter. The study gives new insight for a better understanding the fisheries of the study area and help decision makers to make proper management of the Bitter Lakes.
