This paper deals to find the dynamic response of load frequency and corresponding tie-line power of an automatic generation control (AGC) in four area interconnected thermal power system by using two different technique (Controller); One is Intelligent (Fuzzy Logic Controller) technique and second is Evolutionary (GA for tuning of PID Controller) Technique. In this paper evolutionary technique are proposed for improving the performance of load frequency and tie-line power and their dynamic responses are compared with the intelligent controller's responses. The results indicate that the proposed controller exhibit better performance and satisfy the automatic generation control requirements with a reasonable dynamic response. The performances of the controllers are simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK software.
Objective: To employ optimization technique (GA (Genetic Algorithm) Technique) to solve the problem of power generation, by means of mathematical approach to formulate the problem mathematically. Methods: Thermal units have been taken as a source of power generation. Transfer function model of thermal generating units has been developed and simulated through MATLAB Simulink software. The main issue of power generation is the continuous mismatching in the generation and consumption of electricity due to which continuous the change in frequency and corresponding power becomes a major issue, which need to be maintained in constancy for regular operation. For this purpose, optimization technique (GA Technique), PI (Proportional Plus Integral), PID (Proportional Plus Integral Plus Derivative) technique have been used to solve the issue of frequency and corresponding power. Findings: Solve the issues of change in frequency and corresponding tie line power, a table has been drawn for batter comparison. Novelty: The comparative results obtained from all technique have been put in table which shows that the optimization technique (GA Technique) gives very effective, efficient and dynamic results (8 Sec and 11 Sec in Frequency & Power Variation) compared to traditional technique (PI, PID) (28 Sec, 44 Sec & 27 Sec & 43 Sec in Frequency & Power Variation).
In a thermal generating station, electricity is generated by different generating unit which are operated parallelly to fulfill the demand arises from the different consumers. In a huge and complex structure of power system, load is continuously varied so the problem of thermal generating unit (T.G.U) is to mismatch the frequency and tie line power deviations due to continuously changing of load. To solve the problem of T.G.U, different controller like; PI, PID and fuzzy controllers applied, which gives the satisfied result in normal operation but in abnormal condition, some controller takes large time to settle down the load changes problem, which is dangerous for the system. In this paper model of T.G.U has been developed and simulated in MATLAB Software. Response of the developed model has been tabulated for better comparison. The tabulated result shows that the fuzzy controller gives the good results over the other controller due to settle down the frequency and tie line power flow deviations in less time and maintain the system constancy.
