Polymerization reactions of 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTS) were carried out by different catalysts, potassium hydroxide, potassium tertbutoxide, and tetraphenylporphyrin aluminum chloride (TPP-AlCl), and tetrafluorophthalate zironium isopropoxide complex. Polymer samples obtained from the ringopening polymerization of GPTS were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, NMR spectroscopy, electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy, and gel permeation chromatography.

Copolymerization reactions of butadiene oxide (BuO) with 3‐glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTS) and styrene oxide (SO) were carried out under solvent free condition by potassium hydroxide catalyst. Copolymers obtained from ring opening polymerization of BuO with GPTS and SO were characterized by 1H‐NMR, 13C‐NMR, FTIR, DSC, and gel permeation chromatography. High‐resolution NMR analysis was particularly effective in the study of copolymers microstructures and revealed the structural and sequence details. Block copolymers were formed because of different polymerization velocity of monomers. Average molecular weights of copolymers were between 1500–13 000 Da and polydispersity index of copolymers is rather low (Mw/Mn = 1.17–1.36). Copolymers were hydrolyzed by 1.0 M tetrapropylammonium hydroxide to form copolyglycol having adhesive and fiber characteristics. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Complexation reactions of titanium tetraethoxide [Ti(OEt) 4 ] and titanium tetra-n-butoxide [Ti(OBu n ) 4 ] with 3-pentenoic acid (PA) and allylacetoacetate (AAA), in a 1 : 1M ratio, were studied in ethanol solution at room temperature.13 C-NMR and FTIR spectra showed that all PA and AAA completely reacted with both titanium alkoxides. Hydridosilane compounds such as triethoxysilane and triethylsilane were added to titanium chelate complexes in a 1 : 1M ratio. The investigation of products by 13 C-and 29 Si-NMR and FTIR showed additions of -SiH to the CAC double bond. The hydrolysis of titanium-PA and AAA complexes, by water in 1 : 4 ratios, resulted in released PA in an amount of 10% and AAA of 20%. The stability of hydrolyzed products was investigated by 13 C-NMR, 29 Si-NMR, and FTIR.
