The level of rice productivity is influenced by several inhibiting factors, for example disease attack in rice plants. The slow and inappropriate treatment of rice plant can make the crop failure so that rice production and farmers' income decrease. The symptoms of rice disease are difficult to distinguish, especially in severe symptoms. Collaboration with other fields, especially computer science, is needed to classify diseases automatically so that the farmers can take action for plant treatment and the spread of disease can be controlled quickly. The classification of diseases based on images requires the best features/characteristics so that the disease can be classified. In this research, Deep Learning method, especially Convolutional Neural Network with EfficientNet B3 architecture, can extract features very well. In this research, the classification of brown spot and bacterial leaf disease by applying EfficientNet B3 with transfer learning reached 79.53% accuracy and 0.012 loss/error.
English language learner often deals with the problem of vocabulary learning. Students as second language learner need teacher's guide to find adequate English vocabulary learning media. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of Microsoft Office 365 for teaching and learning English vocabulary of vocational high school students in SMK Analis Kesehatan Nasional. This study involved 20 students in eleventh grade students with the experience of using Microsoft Office 365 application for two years. By applying descriptive qualitative research, this study used questionnaire to collect the data and explain the result by description. This study presented conclusion that Microsoft Office 365 application is useful for teaching and learning English vocabulary of students in SMK Analis Kesehatan Nasional. This conclusion is based on the questionnaires' results dealing with students' English vocabulary comprehension in Microsoft Office 365, influence of Microsoft Office 365 toward students' English vocabulary, and students' English vocabulary knowledge in Microsoft Office 365. Dealing the result of questioners, 77,5% students comprehended English vocabulary in Microsoft Office 365 and 97,5% students admitted Microsoft Office 365 influenced students' English vocabulary. In average of students' vocabulary knowledge, 71.25% students comprehended 20 English vocabularies on homepage of Microsoft Office 365.
College students in fifth semester from non English department require advanced stage of learning English method. Therefore, this research takes English debating as advanced English learning method for non English Department students. The aims of this research are (1) to present the students' score of English speaking skill in debating performance; and (2) to explain the effectiveness of debating method in teaching advanced English speaking based on lecturer's and college students' point of view. This research applies qualitative descriptive to present statistical data form and purposive sampling technique for selecting the respondents. This research took 30 students of fifth grade at STMIK Sinar Nusantara Surakarta in academic year 2018/2019. In this research, 5% students scored 50, 18 % students scored 60, 42% students scored 70, and 32% students scored 80 for the fluency aspect. From the accuracy aspect, 12% scored 50, 25% students scored 60, 35% students scored 70, and 28% students scored 80. From the pronunciation aspect, 10% students scored 50, 22% students scored 60, and 38% students scored 70, and 30% students scored 80. From the intonation aspect, 10% students scored 50, 30% students scored 60, 40% students scored 70, and 20 % students scored 80. As a conclusion, debating method is an effective for teaching advanced English speaking for non English department students in fifth semester at STMIK Sinar Nusantara.
Duolingo application in mobile assisted language learning can help students flexibly to learn English listening skills by its game-based features. Meanwhile, listening skill as one of significant language aspects for oral communication purpose is highly required for professional need by vocational senior high school. Therefore, this research was intended to find out the progress of students’ English listening skill in SMK Analis Kesehatan Nasional Surakarta using Duolingo and students’ perceptions toward the mobile application. This study used quantitative research with pre-experimental design and its data collection used pre-test, post-test, and close-end questionnaire. The findings show that scores of students’ pre-test and post-test presented significant improvement of students’ English listening skill. The average students’ pre-test score was 73.25 while the average students’ post-test score was 83.3. It was supported by students’ perception that 90% students gave positive perception to the usage of Duolingo mobile application in their English learning process.
