Introdução: Dietas hiperproteicas tem se tornado cada vez mais comuns na sociedade atual podendo ser definida pelo consumo de proteínas acima de 0,8 a 1 g/Kg/dia. Há uma forte conexão entre a ingestão de proteínas e o agravamento da doença renal crônica (DRC), que pode ser caracterizada por uma taxa de filtração glomerular estimada (TFGe) abaixo de 60 mL/min/1,73 m². Objetivo: Portanto, esse artigo busca elucidar os efeitos que seguir uma dieta rica em proteínas tem na função renal. Metodologia: O presente estudo consiste em uma revisão integrativa de literatura sobre a avaliação de uma dieta hiperproteica para a saúde dos rins, com base em artigos escritos em inglês publicados nos últimos 4 anos, 2018 a 2022, nas seguintes bases de dados: Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde (BVS); National Library of Medicine (PubMed MEDLINE), Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SCIELO), EbscoHost. Resultados e discussão: Entre os resultados encontrados, nota-se uma concordância acerca da hiperfiltração glomerular, mas discordâncias acerca do mecanismo pelo qual ela se dá, e pelo potencial nocivo à saúde renal causado por ela havendo também discordâncias, ainda, do papel das proteínas na formação de cálculos renais. Entretanto, destaca-se uma diminuição na mortalidade da população com função renal regular em consumo de altas quantias proteicas, e também na mortalidade de pacientes de UTI seguindo dietas hiperproteicas. Considerações finais: São necessários estudo clínicos randomizados controlados para avaliar uma comparação direta entre as alterações causadas pelo alto e baixo consumo de proteínas.
As infecções microbianas, desde os primórdios da humanidade, são descritas como grandes problemas enfrentados pelas populações. Diante de muitas delas, diversas civilizações padeceram sem ter, ao menos, conhecimento sobre o que os afetava. Ademais, nota-se que esses prejuízos advindos de doenças infecciosas não afligiram apenas os humanos, mas tiveram também um ônus sobre as comunidades de animais e o meio ambiente como um todo. No entanto, após muito tempo de estudo e desenvolvimento na área médica, foram desenvolvidos os fármacos antimicrobianos, os quais revolucionaram as técnicas até então conhecidas para o combate desses diversos patógenos. Assim sendo, muitos desses medicamentos passaram a ser receitados de forma indiscriminada para o combate ou prevenção de certas enfermidades, o que ocasionou o início de uma Resistência Antimicrobiana (AMR), fato que gerou intensas discussões pelo mundo. Ao se tomar nota disso, buscou-se, através deste, aprofundar os saberes a respeito de todo o processo biológico intrínseco a esse mecanismo de seleção natural de determinados organismos agressores. Dessa maneira, o presente estudo objetivou o desenvolvimento de uma rede de conhecimentos que interligasse os fatores associados à resistência antimicrobiana com o melhor conhecimento dos antimicrobianos, seus efeitos e limites de uso. Portanto, para que os antibacterianos continuem fazendo efeito e exercendo sua função na saúde humana, animal e no meio ambiente, é importante a adoção de medidas de controle sobre a prescrição de certos compostos, a fim de evitar uma potencial adaptação e resistência de seres indesejáveis.
