El objetivo de este artículo es realizar un análisis multimodal de un álbum ilustrado, basándose en el modelo semiótico de Kress y van Leeuwen y en las categorías de interacción texto / ilustración de Nikolajeva y Scott. El análisis revela un claro predominio de relaciones simétricas, complementarias y de ampliación, que desempeñan una función determinante en la creación de significado, tanto a nivel textual como visual. Los componentes verbales y visuales están cuidadosamente distribuidos en cada página, de forma que ambos modos, a la vez que se complementan, se especializan en la transmisión de aspectos informativos específicos. Autor e ilustradora parecen combinar sus esfuerzos para mostrar la historia desde dos perspectivas, la visual y la verbal, con el objetivo de facilitar al niño la comprensión del cuento y mantener su interés en la historia narrada.
