Introdução: O Acidente Vascular Cerebral (AVC) é a principal causa de incapacidade de longo prazo em adultos, resultando em prejuízo da qualidade de vida na população. Objetivo: Analisar o perfil dos pacientes acometidos por AVC em atendimento na Clínica Escola de Fisioterapia da Facisa/UFRN. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo de caráter analítico, observacional, longitudinal do tipo prospectivo, onde foram realizadas coletas de informações presenciais e de alguns dados nos prontuários. O período da coleta foi iniciado em maio de 2018 e concluído em outubro do mesmo ano. Foram avaliados o perfil sociodemográfico, cognitivo e motor através de avaliação semiestruturada e aplicação de instrumentos que quantificam comprometimentos motores específicos. Resultados: Dos 29 pacientes analisados, verificou-se a prevalência de acometimento por AVC no sexo masculino, sendo 17 indivíduos afetados (58,62%), em sua maioria casados 21 (72,41%), na faixa etária dos 70 a 79 anos (41,37%), analfabetos (31%), aposentados 15 (51,72%) e residentes em Santa Cruz 26 (89,65%), e 68,96% dos indivíduos tiveram um acometimento do tipo isquêmico, vindo a apresentar hemiparesia 15 (51,72%), tendo como principal complicação secundária a subluxação de ombro 3 (10,34%). Conclusão: Existe uma relação da alta incidência de acometimento por AVC na população e o aparecimento de déficits cognitivos, sensoriais e motores, além das limitações sociais associadas. Portanto, este estudo pode ser usado para a criação de estratégias de combate mais direcionadas e eficientes uma vez que se conhece melhor o perfil desses indivíduos.
