El objetivo del estudio fue establecer la relación de la contaminación bacteriológica de la materia orgánica de las lagunas de irrigación y el índice de infestación larvaria por Anopheles albimanus; lo cual es una herramienta para el monitoreo del control vectorial en fase acuática.El tipo de estudio es descriptivo transversal con el cálculo estadístico del coeficiente de correlación de Pearson (r). Se tomaron muestras de agua de las lagunas de irrigación para establecer dos elementos; uno de ellos, fue la determinación de la contaminación por coliformes totales, coliformes fecales y Escherichia coli. También, determinamos el índice de infestación larvaria por Anopheles albimanus, de acuerdo a los estándares internacionales (PAHO/WHO).Existen algunos factores (luz solar, temperatura, concentración de sal, etc.) en el biotopo del mosquito, que intervienen en el ciclo biológico de estos.Las 8 lagunas de irrigación fueron la unidad de observación. En todas se detectó una alta contaminación bacteriológica por coliformes totales, coliformes fecales y Escherichia coli. El coeficiente de correlación de Pearson resultó cercano a cero, por lo tanto, no existe relación entre la contaminación bacteriológica y el índice de infestación larvaria por Anopheles albimanus.Revista Portal de Ciencias, No. 8, junio 2015: 59-73
El objetivo de este artículo es el de reflexionar sobre las Determinantes Sociales de la Salud (DSS), relacionadas con el abordaje de la Malaria en la comunidad de Charamuscas del municipio de Esquías del departamento de Comayagua. El enfoque metodológico fue del tipo descriptivo transversal con el uso de las escalas tipo Likert para la medición de la actitud y habilidad sanitaria en el tratamiento de la malaria. Se elaboraron preguntas que evaluaron el grado de apropiación de los conocimientos, las habilidades y prácticas por esta población en torno a esta enfermedad, los resultados de las variables se examinaron usando el Análisis de Componentes Principales (ACP). La unidad de análisis fueron los pobladores de la localidad mencionada y la de observación fueron los conocimientos, habilidades y actitudes, que tienen este grupo poblacional sobre la malaria. La muestra se seleccionó mediante el Muestreo Probabilístico Estratificado. Dentro de los resultados se identificó que, en tres de cuatro de los entrevistados, el consejo del vecino sobre cómo tratar la fiebre (presuntamente causada por malaria) es un factor predominante en el tratamiento. Casi todos los pobladores entrevistados asocian el síntoma fiebre con la malaria y recurren a la compra de acetaminofén como medicamento para control de ese signo, aunque se reconoce la confianza de las drogas de control de esta enfermedad que la unidad de salud cercana distribuye. Se determina que una de las lecciones aprendidas es la poca efectividad de las campañas de prevención de malaria en la comunidad; el consejo del familiar y/o vecino determina la automedicación; hay confianza de los medicamentos para malaria que la Secretaría de Salud provee.
El objetivo del estudio fue el de caracterizar las competencias de los manipuladores de alimentos de los municipios de Comayagua, Siguatepeque y La Paz en el periodo febrero a junio del 2016. El estudio es de tipo descriptivo transversal con el uso de las escalas tipo Likert para la medición de la actitud y habilidad sanitaria en los entrevistados. Se elaboraron preguntas que evaluaron el grado de apropiación de los conocimientos por esta población. La unidad de análisis son los manipuladores de alimentos de las vías públicas y estacionarios y de observación son los conocimientos, habilidades y actitudes, que tienen este grupo de la economía informal. La muestra se seleccionó mediante el Muestreo Probabilístico Estratificado, obteniéndose que el 94% de los manipuladores tuvieron conocimientos acertados, 90% de ellos, manifestaron Habilidades favorables y el 95% Actitudes favorables. Los procesos de capacitación enmarcados en los proyectos de vinculación realizados por el CURC en el abordaje de la educación sanitaria de los manipuladores de alimentos, han tenido un efecto positivo en el cambio de los conocimientos, habilidades y actitudes de las personas entrevistadas.
