Foto: F.A. ABSTRACTIn the region of Sumapaz (Cundinamarca), the culture of the purple passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims) presents diminution in flowering and fructification after the first harvest cycle, affecting production. An alternative consists of implementing agronomical practices to increase the effectiveness in each of the cycles. We evaluated the method of application and doses of two fertilizers that contain zinc (Zn) with productive branches, due to its intervention in the formation of auxins by enzymatic activation in the synthesis of tryptophan, the precursor of indoleacetic acid (IAA). The experiment was carried out in the municipality of Granada (Cundinamarca), with 18-month-old plants, with a design of randomized complete blocks with three repetitions and five treatments: chelated zinc (10%) at doses of 3, 6 and 9 kg ha -1 of Zn applied in a foliar form every 15 days with a total of eight applications; zinc sulfate (28%) in an edaphic form with a dose of 6 kg ha -1 of Zn with two applications every month; and one control treatment. Every 15 days, data for the length of the productive branches and number of productive buds were taken. For length of branches, statistical differences from 45 days were obtained, with the folia...
Plantulas de tomate.Foto: Álvarez-Herrera. ABSTRACTWith the aim of finding alternatives that allow coffee producers to use reusable containers for more vigorous seedlings with a hard and well-formed root system, the root growth of coffee, cv. Castillo, seedlings was evaluated when sown in different types of containers with different dimensions, determining the variables of tap root length, root volume, root biomass and percentage of plants with deformation in the tap root, in the statistical differences for the evaluated variables because the restriction in the rooting space affected the root growth, with the plants sown in the containers with the greatest depth having the best characteristics, such as largest root length, root volume and root biomass. Those sown in the plastic seed tray with 18 wells and a depth of 21.8 cm had notable results, which recommends its use in the nursery phase due to the fact that it is reusable and that the environmental impact would be decreased.
