El presente artículo pretende contextualizar los países latinoamericanos en temas de discapacidad, educación superior y tiempos de pandemia. La información que se presenta ha sido provista por los referentes de cada país que conforman la Red Interuniversitaria Latinoamericana y del Caribe sobre Discapacidad y Derechos Humanos. El objetivo del mismo es sistematizar la realidad de cada país en el contexto sanitario y la respuesta de los gobiernos y universidades para garantizar la accesibilidad académica y calidad de educación a los estudiantes con discapacidad. Los países incluidos son: Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, México, Panamá, Paraguay, Perú, Uruguay y Venezuela. Se analizan y discuten los alcances para las universidades, las barreras y desafíos pendientes para garantizar acceso a una educación superior de calidad, con equidad y justicia social.
