SUMMARYAn algorithm is described for the generation of hybrid grids suitable for viscous computations around complex geometries. The deÿnition of the geometry is given by the ISO standard STEP format. The grid generation is based on a hierarchical approach. The user-speciÿed parameters are given on all basic STEP entities and the deÿnition is consistent across the complete geometry. Semi-structured layers of prismatic cells are generated, starting from the viscous boundaries of the domain. The remaining volume is ÿlled by an unstructured Delaunay algorithm with frontal node creation. Complex models have been successfully gridded, however, more testing is needed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
