O Brasil enfrenta sérias dificuldades com relação à desigualdade social, em razão da distribuição de riquezas de forma desigual, acarretando sofrimento de grande parcela da população. As políticas públicas servem para reduzir essas disparidades, concretizando os objetivos fundamentais do Estado Democrático de Direito previstos no texto constitucional, a exemplo dos Programas de Transferência de Renda Mínima, que possibilitam melhorias de vida para parcela da sociedade que vive em condições de miserabilidade. O objetivo geral do estudo foi investigar a influência do Programa Bolsa Família na composição da renda das mulheres beneficiárias do Município de Prata/PB. Os objetivos específicos foram analisar a atuação do Estado no enfrentamento à pobreza e à desigualdade social como forma de garantia da dignidade da pessoa humana, averiguar a importância do Programa Bolsa Família no combate à pobreza e a desigualdade social, e verificar os impactos do Programa Bolsa Família na composição da renda das mulheres beneficiárias e na redução da pobreza e desigualdade social no Município de Prata/PB. Para alcançar os objetivos predefinidos, foi realizada uma pesquisa descritiva exploratória, a partir de um referencial bibliográfico, conjuntamente com um estudo de caso no Município de Prata/PB, tendo como amostra, em razão do pequeno tempo para a sua realização, o universo aleatório de 44 mulheres beneficiárias do Programa Bolsa Família. E como resultados, observou-se o efeito positivo sobre a autonomia das mulheres beneficiárias e sobre a composição da renda familiar, gerando reflexos socioeconômicos positivos no Município de Prata/PB.
