The COVID-19 outbreak, which in recent years has become a pandemic in almost all countries in the world, has had a negative impact on the physical and psychological health of individuals and communities. One of the age groups that is a concern during this pandemic is the elderly. During the pandemic, to prevent the elderly from feeling lonely, anxious, stressed which can affect the health of the elderly such as a decrease in the body's immunity, decreased cognitive function, a program of elderly activities is needed, including cognitive therapy and elderly gymnastics. The health conditions and psychological conditions faced by the elderly during the pandemic as a whole can have an impact on health, especially on the body's immunity and the quality of life of the elderly. The purpose of this activity is so that the elderly can take an active role in cognitive therapy and gymnastics activities for the elderly and understand and apply the importance of maintaining health during a pandemic. This strengthening is a preventive and rehabilitative effort in improving the health and quality of life of the elderly. The form of activity program carried out by the method of carrying out socialization, implementing cognitive therapy in the elderly, seeing the results of evaluation of changes after therapy is carried out, carrying out elderly gymnastics activities in Gheo Ghoma Village, Ende Regency. The results of this activity can be seen from the participation of the elderly in carrying out cognitive therapy and gymnastics for the elderly. There are changes in the cognitive improvement of the elderly after therapy and an increase in public insight and understanding of the importance of maintaining the health of the elderly during the Covid-19 pandemic. Cognitive therapy and elderly gymnastics programs are simple things that need to be done regularly and consistently, in order to build community awareness in maintaining the health of the elderly and improving the quality of life of the elderly, especially during the current pandemic
Background: Longer life expectancy in Indonesia is a sign for the government to intensively improve various programs for the elderly for better welfare and quality of life. Elderly Health Service (or Posyandu Lansia) that is well-conducted will provide convenience for the elderly in accessing basic health services to maintain and optimize their quality of life. Objective: This research aimed to analyze the relationship between beliefs on health and family support toward the participation of the elderly in Posyandu Lansia. Methods: This correlational research was performed using a cross-sectional approach on 30 elderly selected purposively. The Health Belief Model (HBM) was used as a framework in this study. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and analyzed using univariate statistics, Chi-square, and logistic regression. Results: The results indicated the presence of a correlation between health beliefs, especially perceived vulnerability (p = 0.048) and perceived benefits (p = 0.030), and family support in the elderly’s participation in Posyandu Lansia. Conclusion: It is essential for the public health centers to monitor and approach the families of elderlies who rarely attend Posyandu Lansia to improve their health and quality of life.
Tuberculosis is a chronic and infectious disease that is still a major public health problem. The spread of this disease is caused by contact with infected droplets. The strategy of the tuberculosis control program in Indonesia uses the directly observed treatment short-course (DOTS) strategy in which patients will be sought and treated until they are cured. Every patient also needs Drug Drink Supervisor (called PMO) who can be nurses, midwives, family members, and health cadres. The role of the TB Drugs Drink Supervisor that has been described in many studies can increase the cure rate by up to 80%. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between the role of PMO in the recovery of tuberculosis patients. This research was a cross-sectional research design. Purposive sampling was used to determine the 96 tuberculosis patients who had completed the treatment program. The chi-square was used to identify the relationship between the variables. The study found that there is a relationship between the role of TB drug supervisors (conducting home visits, accompaniment during anti-tuberculosis drug swallowing, providing health education, encouragement of sputum re-checking, and accompaniment during taking anti-tuberculosis drugs in public health centers) with patient recovery (p=0.000). When the TB Drug Drink Supervisor performed well in all roles, it will motivate the TB patients to follow the treatment recommendation and facilitate TB recovery.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a change in habits for post-COVID-19 patients in Indonesia. Support system, both informal and formal, are very important for the successful treatment and recovery of post-COVID-19 patients. The level of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of the patient's family is also significantly influential on the support system, especially for comorbid patients who undergo a longer recovery process. The objective of this study to determine the determinants of the support system and quality of life in post-COVID-19 patients in Ende Regency. The type of research used is analytic observational using a cross sectional study design. The sampling method used cluster random sampling. The sample used proportional allocation technique with a sample of 110 respondents. The results of the study found that the variables that had a significant relationship with the support system and quality of life of post-COVID-19 patients were the respondent's age (p=0.001), quality of life (p=0.001), family attitudes (p=0.001), family behavior (p=0.001), health status (p=0.001) and the patient's comorbid history (p=0.001), while for family knowledge variables (p=0.051) and (p=0.129), and there is no significant relationship for symptoms when suffering from COVID-19 (p=0.078) and (p=0.717). The conclusion is that the support system provided to people with various determinants when facing the situation after the coronavirus pandemic is very important in improving the physical and psychological dimensions. A good support system can reduce various forms of stress, improve coping mechanisms and improve the quality of life of post-COVID-19 patients.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a change in habits for patients after COVID-19 in Indonesia. Social stigma and negative perceptions of the COVID-19 disease can also have an impact on post-COVID-19 patients. Both informal and formal support systems are critical to the successful care and recovery of patients post COVID-19. This study aims to determine the support system on the quality of life in patients with post-COVID-19 in Ende Regency. The type of research used is analytical. The results of the study found that there was a significant relationship between the support system and the quality of life of patients after COVID-19 (p = 0.001) with a correlation value of r = 0.567. The conclusion that the support system with the quality of life of patients post-COVID-19 has a positive correlation. The better the support system provided and received by patients after COVID-19, the better their quality of life will be.observational using a cross sectional study design.
