This study was conducted at one of Buddhist Homeschooling namely Kusalamitra Homeschooling. This study aimed to develop an ICT based application to learn English for Buddhist students of Kusalamitra Homeschooling. This recent study was a research and development study so it objected to develop an English learning application for the students. Subjects of this study were validators and Buddhist students. There were two techniques used to collect the data namely interview and questionnaires. The interview was used to identify students’ need in learning English. The questionnaires were used to validate the product and evaluate the product. The data collected were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. There were five procedures in conducting this study. Those were analyzing needs, designing product, developing product, implementing product, and evaluating product. Based on the research finding, this study showed that the media developed had very good quality and very worth to be implemented on the students. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu Homeschooling Buddha yang bernama Homeschooling Kusalamitra. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis teknologi informasi dan komunikasi. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian dan pengembangan yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah aplikasi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris bagi siswa. Terdapat dua subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu validator dan juga siswa Buddha homeschooling itu sendiri. Terdapat dua teknik yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data yaitu melalui wawancara dan penyebaran angket. Data yang dikumpulkan kemudian dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Terdapat lima langkah dalam melaksanakan penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis kebutuhan, mendesain produk, mengembangkan produk, mengimplementasikan produk, dan mengevaluasi produk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media yang dikembangkan masuk dalam kategori sangat baik dan sangat layak untuk digunakan oleh siswa.
Abstract This recent study focuses on the use of vocabulary learning strategies (VLSs). Nevertheless, in this study the subject was categorized based on gender (male and female). This study aims to identify vocabulary learning strategies employed by female and male learner in learning new vocabularies. The method of this study is qualitative. The participants are 10 male learners and 10 female learners of higher intermediate level at LBPP LIA Solo. The data were collected using vocabulary learning strategy questionnaires (VLSQs), interview, documentations, and test. The data collected were analyzed qualitatively. The research finding showed that female learners tend to use more vocabulary learning strategies than male did. In addition, the most vocabulary learning strategies used by female learners were dictionary strategies and memory strategy: rehearsal as the least vocabulary learning strategies used. Meanwhile, male learners indicated to use guessing strategies more often and note-taking strategy rarely. Keywords : VLSs, Higher Intermediate Level, Male Learners, Female Learners.
This research was conducted at Sojiwan Temple, Klaten. The Sojiwan Temple is a Buddhist Temple located in Klaten Region. This research aimed to investigate the Reliefs’ shapes that existed at Sojiwan Temple and the story of Temples’ Reliefs. There were some related researches to the previous study. However, the gap was found. It is about the moral values based on story behind the Temple’s Reliefs at the Sojiwan Temple. There was a qualitative research design employed in this study. The object of this research was Sojiwan Temple itself. There were three data collection techniques used to collect the data. They were observation, interview and documentation. The data gathered were analyzed using a research design called flow method of qualitative design. This research method consisted of three stages, those namely collecting data, reducing data, displaying data, and concluding or verifying. The result of this study indicated that: (1) there were fourteen Reliefs’ shapes existed at Sojiwan Temple and (2) Each Relief at Sojiwan Temple had moral values based on its own story sculpted. All the Reliefs told about some moral values. They were ingenuity, simplicity, tolerance, sincerity, discipline, toughness, affection, carefulness, self-awareness, solidarity, and unity. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Candi Sojiwan, Klaten. Candi Sojiwan merupakan candi Buddha yang terletak di Kabupaten Klaten. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan bentuk-bentuk Relief yang ada di Candi Sojiwan beserta dengan makna dari masing-masing Relief tersebut. Dalam penelitian-penelitian terdahulu sudah membahas tentang hal serupa. Namun, terdapat perbedaan yang ditemukan yaitu tentang nilai-nilai moral yang diperoleh dari makna dan cerita di balik Relief yang ada di Candi Sojiwan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Adapun objek dalam penelitian ini adalah Candi Sojiwan itu sendiri. Terdapat tiga teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan desain penelitian yang disebut dengan metode kualitatif flow. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ini memiliki tiga tahap, yaitu mengumpulkan data, mengurang data, menampilkan data, dan menyimpulkan atau memvalidasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat empat belas bentuk Relief yang ada di Candi Sojiwan dan (2) masing-masing Relief memiliki nilai moral yang terkandung dalam cerita dari masing-masing Relief. Semua Relief tersebut menyampaikan nilai-nilai moral, yaitu kecerdikan, kesederhanaan, toleransi, ketulusan, disiplin, ketabahan, kasih sayang, kehati-hatian, mawas diri, solidaritas, dan persatuan.
<p>This study belongs to qualitative research. This recent study focuses on the history of Plaosan temple and the reliefs meaning existed at Plaosan Temple located at Klaten Regency, Central Java. The subject of this study was the Plaosan temple itself. This study aims to identify reliefs meaning of Plaosan temple and also the history of it. The method of this study is qualitative. The data were collected using observation, interview, and documentations. The data collected were analyzed qualitatively. The history of Plaosan temple was taken from the interview with an archeologies at Central Java Institute for Preservation of Cultural Heritage and documentation from some sources founded at the library of this institute. The reliefs meaning was taken from the interview. However, the observation was done for the preliminary study. The research finding showed that there were there were three types of reliefs of Plaosan temple. Those were shaped characters, ornamental decoration, and animals. Each relief character had their own meaning. Character involved the character of a man and a woman which symbolized gender equality existed in the past, ornamental decoration about plants and tendrils showed about human’s life, and animal reliefs that consist mythological animals of Kara and Makara symbolized about reminder and teachings for human being.</p>
This study aimed to analyze the need of Buddhist students in learning English. It was used to determine the most suitable English learning media for them. The recent study was done at Kusalamitra homeschooling at the level of Senior High School students. This study belonged to qualitative research with case study approach. There were 30 students involved in this study. Questionnaires and interview were used to collect the data in this research. The data gathered then analyzed qualitatively with three steps, namely data collection, data reduction and data verification or can be called drawing conclusion. Based on the data analyzed, there was a research finding. The students need a handy supplementary material which could be used and carried easily. Thus the researcher needed to develop an Information and Communication Technology that contained supplementary material for learning English.
