The heterogeneous fleet vehicle routing problem is investigated using some adaptations of the variable neighborhood search (VNS). The initial solution is obtained by Dijkstra's algorithm based on a cost network constructed by the sweep algorithm and the 2-opt. Our VNS algorithm uses several neighborhoods which are adapted for this problem. In addition, a number of local search methods together with a diversification procedure are used. Two VNS variants, which differ in the order the diversification and Dijkstra's algorithm are used, are implemented. Both variants appear to be competitive and produce new best results when tested on the data sets from the literature. We also constructed larger data sets for which benchmarking results are provided for future comparison.
In this literature, a new automated control strategy has been developed to manage the power supply from the wind power generation system to the load. The main objective of this research work is to develop a fuzzy logic-based pitch angle control and to develop a static transfer switch to make power balance between the wind power generation system and the loads. The power management control system is a progression of logic expressions, designed based on generating power and load power requirement. The outcome of this work targets at an improved power production, active and reactive power compensation and ensures system load constraints. To validate the proposed control strategy, a detailed simulation study is carried out on a 9-MW wind farm simulation simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment.
A bi‐objective optimisation using a compromise programming (CP) approach is proposed for the capacitated p‐median problem (CPMP) in the presence of the fixed cost of opening facility and several possible capacities that can be used by potential facilities. As the sum of distances between customers and their facilities and the total fixed cost for opening facilities are important aspects, the model is proposed to deal with those conflicting objectives. We develop a mathematical model using integer linear programming (ILP) to determine the optimal location of open facilities with their optimal capacity. Two approaches are designed to deal with the bi‐objective CPMP, namely CP with an exact method and with a variable neighbourhood search (VNS) based matheuristic. New sets of generated instances are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed approaches. The computational experiments show that the proposed approaches produce interesting results.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
