O objetivo deste trabalho é mostrar por meio de pressupostos teóricos a importância da gestão ambiental nas empresas hoteleiras, buscando estabelecer as bases conceituais, para uma melhor compreensão do assunto, apresentando uma revisão bibliográfica de temas como a Qualidade Total, o Meio Ambiente, o Desenvolvimento Sustentável e a Gestão da Qualidade Ambiental e sua importância para hotelaria. Partindo destes conhecimentos teóricos analisa o item 2.10 e seus subitens do atual Sistema Brasileiro de Classificação de Hotéis. A metodologia utilizada quanto aos fins foi à exploratória e quanto aos meios foi uma pesquisa bibliográfica. Os resultados desta pesquisa mostraram que em uma empresa hoteleira é possível estimular um melhor destino e uso operacional de seus resíduos. Verificou-se ainda a possibilidade de buscar o uso dos recursos naturais disponíveis com eficiência, criando possibilidades de maximizar a sua competitividade no mercado globalizado baseado em um desenvolvimento sustentável.
O Arranjo Produtivo Local de Confecções do Agreste Pernambucano (APLCAPE) é responsável por 15% da produção de jeans do Brasil. Entretanto, a etapa de beneficiamento de jeans nas lavanderias, contribui de forma representativa para geração de impactos ambientais negativos na região, o que demonstra a necessidade de estudos que identifiquem e mitiguem esses impactos, garantindo a sustentabilidade do processo. Esta pesquisa de natureza exploratória e descritiva, teve como forma de abordagem a perspectiva quantitativa e qualitativa. Para a coleta de dados foi utilizada a observação não participativa, aplicação de questionários e realização de entrevistas, de forma a realizar a classificação, caracterização e diagnóstico ambiental das lavanderias do município da cidade de Caruaru - PE. Foi observado que quanto ao porte, a maioria das lavanderias pesquisadas são micros (M) e pequenas empresas (P), considerado os parâmetros pesquisados: consumo de água (M=56%, P=29%), área útil (M=57%, P=39%), número de funcionários (M=39%, P=55%) e produção (M=40%, M=52%). Quanto ao potencial poluidor, verificou-se que a maioria das lavanderias (76%) realizam o tingimento, com potencialmente poluidor considerável. Verificou-se que todas as lavanderias fazem somente o tratamento físico-químico dos efluentes e que, dentro dos parâmetros analisados, nenhuma atingiu a eficiência desejada, definida pela legislação ambiental. Conclui-se que as lavanderias de beneficiamento de jeans possuem um alto potencial poluidor, com impactos ambientais negativos devido ao alto consumo de água e consequente geração de efluentes. Por outro lado, geram impactos ambientais positivos, pela geração de emprego e renda.
As lavanderias de Beneficiamento de Jeans, são consideradas indústrias com uma alta capacidade poluidora e hidro intensivas, devido aos produtos químicos utilizados durante os processos produtivos, e que demandam uma grande quantidade de água para o beneficiamento das peças. Nesse cenário há necessidades de estudos que apontem alternativas de reuso da água, como também diversificação na sua forma de captação. A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar o reuso de águas nas lavanderias localizadas no Arranjo Produtivo Local de Confecções do Agreste Pernambucano (APLCAPE), de forma a contribuir para as alternativas de reuso durante o processo produtivo. Para levantamento dos dados, foram aplicados questionários e entrevistas em 105 lavanderias, onde foi possível determinar e conhecer o processo produtivo, uso da água e possibilidades de reuso. Verificou-se que 83% das lavanderias realizam níveis diferentes de reuso água e 17% não fazem qualquer tipo de reuso. Não obstante, os resultados demostraram que a prática do reuso de água, além de contribuir para a economia de água no processo, traz uma economia financeira considerável, uma vez que a maioria das lavanderias utilizam água compradas de caminhão pipa, o que interfere no custo e na competividade do produto.
