For this, an important parameter is the undrained strength of soils, which is vastly studied in order to improve the knowledge of its variability with other physical and mechanical soil properties. This paper aims to provide an evaluation of differences between three laboratory tests: vane test, fall cone test and triaxial UU, as well as evaluate the relationship with plasticity and overburden pressure of soils. In order to that, four kaolin and bentonite mixtures proportions were molded and consolidated at three different loading levels. Were found relations involving these factors variation and the response, also the statistical methods used for evaluation didn't suggest significant differences for the results of each undrained strength measure from laboratory tests realized.
PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Coeficiente de adensamento vertical, solos artificias, ensaios de laboratório ABSTRACT: Settlement prediction is an important part of monitoring embankments and other geotechnical works. For this, the knowledge of the coefficient of vertical consolidation is crucial. Although, this property usually has great variability when considering laboratory and field values. This paper aims to investigate the influence of several factors over the consolidation phenomenon through series of laboratory tests realized with kaolin and bentonite mixtures. This evaluation was given through rate of consolidation analysis using coefficient of vertical consolidation, by Taylor's square root of time method, and the slope of the adjusted line of the square root of time's curve linear part. The relation between this factor and the consolidation ratio showed not unique, linear to quadratic, as the material gets clayey.
