O exame anatÔmico dos espécimes em nosso poder prontamente revelou uma grande diferença entre a genitália masculina de T. mariae e de T. haemastoma.Ainda estamos prosseguindo com o estudo da anatomia de T. mariae e das demais espécies do gênero que ocorrem nas costas brasileiras, com vistas a uma possrvel revisão sistemática desse grupo de prosobrãnquios. Acreditamos porém que é oportuno publicarmos alguns dos resultados que obtivemos até aqui, com respeito a T. mariae, para eliminar as dúvidas de muitos malacologistas quanto à existência real ou não dessa espécie.O objetivo deste trabalho, portanto, é ampliar os conhecimentos sobre T. mariae e destacar desde já algumas das caracterrsticas que permitem definir esta espécie como absolutamente distinta e válida, dentro do gênero.
The distribution, ecology and systematics of the lunulitiform bryozoans of Una Grande (RJ) region are studied. The occurrence of the species is correlated to the granulometry of the sediment and depth. Discoporella umbellata does not occur in silt-clay bottoms.
