A transformação digital (TD), considerada uma tendência para muitas empresas, passou a ser fundamental para sua sobrevivência, dada a necessidade de proporcionar respostas rápidas às demandas do mercado. Nesse sentido, faz-se necessário entender de que maneira as empresas estão respondendo às mudanças decorrentes do uso da tecnologia em seu processos. Dessa forma, esta pesquisa tem como objetivo identificar o nível de maturidade digital de empresas pernambucanas, a partir do índice CESAR (2021) de transformação digital (ICTd). Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza quantitativa e descritiva, operacionalizada através de um survey com 32 empresas. Considerando que esta pesquisa foi realizada em um contexto cujos impactos da pandemia da COVID-19 podem ser vistos em toda a sociedade, adicionalmente foram realizados questionamentos referentes a esses impactos nas empresas. Os resultados mostram que todas elas sentiram os efeitos da pandemia, e que 71,9% delas mostraram-se mais propensas a investir em inovação para acelerar sua transformação digital, considerando que através da tecnologia será possível aumentar eficiência e produtividade, identificar oportunidades para criar mais valor e novos modelos de negócio e transformar fundamentalmente seus processos. Especificamente em relação ao nível de maturidade, verifica-se que 65,6% delas estão em estágio de maturidade digital, 25% em estágio de desenvolvimento e 9,4% em um estágio inicial, ou seja, essas empresas não têm conhecimento sobre o processo da TD ou se conhecem não o entendem. A importância desses resultados reside no fato de que mapeamentos dessa natureza possibilitam a definição de cursos de ação para que as empresas possam direcionar-se para adoção de práticas viabilizadas pelo uso da tecnologia, com vistas a melhorias nos resultados dos seus negócios.
