Este artigo é resultado da experiência do grupo de estudo Poéticas Modernas na Amazônia, integrante do Projeto Cartografia Afrobrasileira e Indígena, que tratou de investigar as produções modernistas do grupo literário Academia do Peixe Frito e do Grupo Neomarajoara, que atuava nas artes plásticas e decorativas na Amazônia. Em plena comemoração do Centenário da Semana de Arte Moderna, em 1922, diante do hiperfoco dado ao grupo paulista enquanto epicentro do movimento, assim como em outros espaços pelo país, esta pesquisa problematiza qual o verdadeiro lugar nos modernistas paraenses para o legado do modernismo brasileiro. O objetivo do trabalho realizado foi combater a centralidade cultural que gera preconceito, racismo e, até mesmo, xenofobia diante da cultura nortista por suas fortes raízes indígenas e afrodescendentes por meio do estudo dos Modernismos surgidos no Brasil nas décadas de 1910 e 1920. Como metodologia, foi realizado levantamento bibliográfico, pesquisa de campo, análise de dados e produção de recursos didáticos e acadêmicos a partir dos resultados alcançados. Como conclusão, compreendeu-se que conhecer a produção desses grupos modernos na Amazônia fortaleceu a identidade indígena e afrobrasileira de nossos estudantes ao combater a descentralidade do saber e fazer arte, evidenciando as contribuições dos grupos estudados.
O artigo é resultado dos processos de aprendizagem desenvolvidos com turmas do 2º ano do Ensino Médio, a partir do grupo de estudo "História da mandioca: conhecimentos indígenas em circulação atlântica", no bojo das atividades do Projeto Cartografia da Cultura Afro-Brasileira e Indígena. Por meio de uma abordagem metodológica pautada nas trocas e encruzilhadas (Rufino, 2019), que se propôs a entrecruzar saberes históricos e compartilhar narrativas, além de engendrar processos de produção artística por meio de referenciais nacionais contemporâneos, os saberes ancestrais indígenas foram revisitados e experienciados em contato direto com a comunidade do Arajivu, no município de Bragança, onde os lugares se tornaram territórios de culturas e as vivências, dispositivos para a criação de novos conceitos e modos de ver a mandioca.
