The sensitivities and specificities suggested various duplex reliabilities in detecting significant arterial disease across different lower limbs segments. The Kappa values, in general, testified duplex's insufficient accuracy in grading the severity of stenosis. However, weighted Kappa values confirmed duplex's better ability to approximate the grade of stenosis. The arterial segments themselves were unevenly affected with the peripheral arterial disease.
RFITT system was fairly efficient in the short term for closure of main trunk veins, whereas longer term results are still scarce. Postoperative side effects of RFITT were minimal. 1,064 nm Nd:Yag laser, according to short term results, proved to be very effective for main stem vein closure. Postoperative side effects related to 1064 nm Nd:Yag endovenous laser treatment proved to be minor, transient, and acceptable.
Direct pressure on the lumbosacral plexus can result in varying patterns of pain, weakness and sensory disturbance in the lower limbs. We report a case of lumbosacral plexopathy due to direct compression from a 7cm common iliac artery aneurysm in an 87year-old gentleman. This was treated with an Amplatzer Vascular Plug (AVP), leading to resolution of the symptoms and successful exclusion of the aneurysm at one year.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
