There is much discussion concerning ‘digital transformation’ in healthcare and the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare systems. Yet it remains rare to find AI solutions deployed in routine healthcare settings. This is in part due to the numerous challenges inherent in delivering an AI project in a clinical environment. In this article, several UK healthcare professionals and academics reflect on the challenges they have faced in building AI solutions using routinely collected healthcare data. These personal reflections are summarised as 10 practical tips. In our experience, these are essential considerations for an AI healthcare project to succeed. They are organised into four phases: conceptualisation, data management, AI application and clinical deployment. There is a focus on conceptualisation, reflecting our view that initial set-up is vital to success. We hope that our personal experiences will provide useful insights to others looking to improve patient care through optimal data use.
Two studies were designed to replicate the finding that people scoring high on aesthetic motivation, as measured by Wann's Sport Fan Motivation Scale, tend to prefer nonaggressive sports. Study 1 correlated 75 college students' scores on aesthetic motivation with their enjoyment of watching aggressive sports. Study 2 correlated 44 college students' scores on aesthetic motivation with their enjoyment of watching a series of aggressive football plays. Neither study replicated the previous finding that people high on aesthetic motivation tend to prefer nonaggressive sports, suggesting that the earlier finding was an artifact of the method used.
Summay.-The current study examined sport spectators' perceptions of the enjoyment of a spectating environment. Spectators (N=177) attending a college men's basketball game in either an old or a new arena were asked to list the variables related to their enjoyment of attending the sporting event. Analysis indicated that [he game-compeution, social nature of the evenr, and exciting plays were the most fre- ¶uendy listed reasons. Fans attending games at the nvo arenas were not differentially likely to report the arena or atmosphere as contributing to their enjoyment.
This study tested the prediction that 28 subjects with scores indicating an external locus of control would have heightened scores on aggression after exposure to excerpts of aggressive music videos. The results did not confirm the hypothesis.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
